Bad move IMO, they could have sacrificed the first hour of Impact and see if they can get fans that are done watching Smackdown, build up a strong second hour and see how Smackdown fares in the future, at least give it a shot.

Good move, IMO.
1) they shouldn't sacrifice the first hour
2) Five hours of wrestling in two days is already asking too much of fans. Better to air the show on Thursday.

i just think they should have tested the waters first, but you make good points. The 5 hour one is actually worse, it's 5 hours + NXT/Lucha, so by thursday Impact feels hard

NXT and LU are slightly different, though, in that NXT is made to be available on demand an, aside from the Takeover shows, rarely has that "I MUST see this show live so I can discuss it with people immediately" feel that shows like Raw and Impact are essentially granted as a courtesy for being their promotion's flagship show, and which I'm sure Smackdown will have again as well. NXT is something you can wait to see. LU is also a "must watch ASAP" show, but for most people we have to wait until Thursday to watch it anyway. That does hurt TNA a bit, but if you've taken a break on Wednesday then LU and TNA on Thursday are both doable (and if you're one of us, then watching NXT/LU on Wednesday is a thing you'll do anyway and you'll still watch Impact on Thursday). I think people will be fine watching Raw on Monday, Smackdown on Tuesday, watching NXT Wednesday if they want to, LU as early as they can get it and Impact on Thursday and then catching up with ROH and/or NXT over the weekend.
