EVOLVE announced this afternoon that WWE NXT star Sami Zayn would be appearing at their events this Saturday in Queens, New York and Sunday in Deer Park, Long Island. They did not specify that he would be wrestling.

Zane has been out injured after a rotator cuff injury suffered several months back. He competed for evolve as El Generico prior to signing a WWE NXT deal.

Obviously this is the next step in whatever the WWE-EVOLVE relationship will be.

it makes perfect sense now. With NXT being a 'brand' now and no more developmental, they're likely gonna start using EVOLVE as OVW or FCW, sending guys to dust off or do specialized training over there

I don't think so. Sure Gabe would be rolling in the dough, but I think he knows he would get very frustrated very quickly with WWE sending him scrubs to use on his shows, which would hurt the quality of the product he prides himself on.
I think this is just WWE finding something they can do for Gabe & Sal that doesn't actually cost WWE anything, but is a bit of a make-good for all of the talent they just took (Busick)/are supposedly about to take (Gargano/Swann).

you don't send the scrub, but you can sent people that need a particular skill or a dust off from injury, like Zayn that could need some matches to get back in shape, but they don't necessarily want him in the NXT ring because they want him to be a surprise when he returns

It'll get out. The NXT audience is smarky. They'll know that someone wrestled for EVOLVE (especially because EVOLVE will do their best to let people know about it).

From what I can tell, a large majority of the NXT crowd isn't casuals.

You've been live? Is it as awesome as it looks on TV?

Oh no, I wish. I live waaaay too far away for that. What I meant was I feel like I'm the only person ever who watches NXT and doesn't recognize everyone from other promotions haha

relevant. WWE.com just posted an article on EVOLVE, "NXT’s next breakout stars?: Meet the 5 EVOLVE wrestlers you need to know"

i dread the day Zack Saber or Thatcher sign with WWE

Sabre Jr. just seems WAY too small and thin for them to sign. Even Dragon actually had muscle (although he might have put a chunk of it on during his run in WWE). Sabre Jr. is basically built like Paige except without the boobs (and she can wrestle that same style, too).
I also don't see them signing Thatcher. Why do they need him if they already have Busick?

well, both Saber and Thatcher are more ground base, Busick is a striker for the most part. I can see them signing Saber just to get buzz and claim to have the best technical wrestler in the world, but i don't see him being more than a Regal. HOWEVER, if they passed on Ricochet for being too cocky, then they may pass on Saber too
