BRM Reviews the 6/18/2015 Smackdown

OPENING SEGMENT- both Sheamus and Ambrose were decent. I’m really not sure why Kane is so angry with Dean, though, but this resulted in a…
HANDICAP MATCH: Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus & Kane- no rating. Decent segment.
Roman shows up to make the save for Dean.
ROMAN REIGNS PROMO- he wants to fight Bray. A lot.
BRIE BELLA vs. PAIGE- 2.25/10
Alicia Fox shows up to screw Paige out of the match. I’m not sure if we’re supposed to take this as Fox getting revenge on Paige for turning on her eight months ago, or as Fox trying to curry favor with Steph.
RENEE YOUNG INTERVIEWS KEVIN OWENS- great. Then Cesaro showed up and he was great, too.
BO DALLAS vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Lana)- good squash.
Bo was f*cking great in his pre-match promo. Also thought this was a great use of Bo. Let him use his pre-match promo to remind us of the story so that we don’t need to have an interaction between the babyface and the heel every single week.
Apparently Roman’s actions earlier in the night have angered Kane so much that he has given in to his inner Teddy Long and booked a tag team match, playa!
NEVILLE vs. XAVIER WOODS (w/the New Day)- 1.5/10, but it did what it needed to do.
Someone actually brought at “Austin 3:16” sign to a random episode of Smackdown in 2015. Dude… I’ve got some disappointing news for you: He’s not going to be here.
SETH ROLLINS PROMO- pretty good
DEAN & ROMAN BACKSTAGE- very good. A great way to show that Bray might be in Roman’s head.
ANTONIO CESARO vs. KEVIN OWENS- 7.25/10
Cesaro almost fell right on his head on that dive.
ALPAMARE WATERSLIDE!
MIZ STUFF- really fun.
SHEAMUS & KANE vs. ROMAN REIGNS & DEAN AMBROSE- 6.75/10
A very good match marred by a bad finish. I always hate the magical take over the TitanTron deal, but in this case I liked it even less because we’ve already hit our note on that feud for tonight with the earlier segment (and comments by the announcers tonight. This is the sort of thing that you should save for next week (if you’re dead-set on using this magical silliness, that is).
A decently fun episode of Smackdown. Unlike normal, there was nothing here that felt redundant or rehashed from Raw. Maybe that’s because it’s the week after the PPV. Don’t worry. I’ve learned my lesson: this one good show won’t fool me into watching next week (unless there’s a REALLY good match).
