Since they're selling the upcoming Lethal vs Briscoe, champion vs champion as the 'Biggest Match in ROH History', what in your opinion is the biggest ROH match in history?

Either Dragon vs. Nigel at Unified or Davey vs. Eddie at Best in the World 2011

Either Nigel vs Dragon at Unified or Kenta Kobashi vs Samoa Joe from Joe vs Kobashi

I'm actually gonna go with Steen vs Generico at Final Battle '10 and ROH/CZW Cage of Death if we can count it as a ROH match

Nigel v. Dragon from Unified. No match that was hyped this much was actually this good.

You didn't like Davey vs. Eddie or the third Joe vs. Punk match?

Both were good, but they didn't have the build that the Unified match did. It was pretty obvious that Davey was gonna win, which took a lot of the magic out of that one. Joe v. Punk had already happened twice before so there was a very good idea of what you were gonna get. Unified was champion vs. champion between the two top guys, for all the marbles. It felt big, it delivered, and I think it still stands as the biggest match.

The more I think about it, the more it's got to be Unified.

ROH released this video, gotta say, it got me hyped for Lethal vs Briscoe far more than i was
phpBB [video]

back to the discussion, since the consensus goes for McGuinness vs Danielson, what would you guys think that Lethal vs Briscoe is missing from the build up to be at the Unified level?

A lot of factors:
1. Both Dragon and Nigel were in the middle of EPIC title reigns at the time. I guess you could compare Lethal's reign to Nigel's in that they were both taking a midcard title to heights never seen before, but Jay Briscoe's title reign isn't even in the same universe as Bryan's was at the time (which is BEFORE his blow-offs with Cabana and Joe, and before Homicide's chase had really even started).
2. While you could argue that has been better to keep Lethal and Briscoe apart, I think that Nigel getting the win over Dragon in a Pure Rules match Weekend of Champions: Night 1 did a great job of setting the stage for this match, which was also a pure rules match, but this time with the rule that we MUST have one Unified Champion at the end (I think Nigel losing to Dragon at Generation Now was a bad idea, but at least that was regular rules and only for the World Title)
3. As good as Lethal and Briscoe are (and I don't think Jay Briscoe is all that great), they are not even close to being Nigel and Dragon.
4. Unification feels like a bigger deal than merely title vs. title because there is no lingering question of what will happen to the other title afterwards
5. It was Nigel getting a title shot on ROH's first show in the UK. You could tell from the beginning that that crowd was going to be at a special level.

You said it perfect!
