These Nashville Tapings are stacked!

Didn't realize how great this card looks... and that's without reDRagon or AJ (or Cole wrestling):

Daniels vs. Del Rio
Lethal vs. ACH vs. Sydal for the TV Title
Cedric vs. Kaz
Elgin vs. Hanson
Mark vs. Roddy
Top Prospect Tournament matches

And Jay Briscoe, Ciampa, and the Decade don't even have matches announced yet.

Briscoe was announced to take on someone from the Decade, but they didn't confirm if it was Jacobs, Whitmer, or Page. I'm guessing Jacobs, but kinda want Page instead

Same. This is the kind of match that ROH used to do more often that they don't do as often anymore. Give a young guy 15-20 minutes with a veteran to really show his stuff. Look at the AJ-Hanson match from a few weeks ago. That was awesome! And look at how much bigger Cedric Alexander has gotten over the past year or so!
Other than that, the only time I can remember them doing this really since Gabe left was that Steen-Tadarius match in Baltimore, although that really didn't get the proper time either. The fact that they didn't do this is a big part of why guys like Rhett Titus never really felt like they went anywhere and why all of the "old" class of students really didn't amount to anything.

I wouldn't say it's completely a lost art, but it surely isn't like it used to. Steen/Silas i'd say was the last one i remember, but i'm not sure if we could consider Silas that new at that point, and the proving ground concept could have had a lot of potential.

Briscoe vs Page sounds like a really good chance to put Page over (someone both ROH and the fans are already sold on eitherway) and it's perfect for a non big show. I feel that since Roddy left, Decade lost a lot of its charm, the team should push Page as a TV title contender and Jacobs/Whitmer should establish themselves as better tag title contenders. Lethal at this point should lose the title to either ACH or Sydal coming the Nashville show and move to the main title scene now that Cole is out and Elgin, Ciampa, and AJ are doing other stuff, and that would open a spot for Page to get in the tv scene.

Likewise, Jacobs/Whitmer could get into the tag title hunt. face Kazaniels vs Decade could have a great story behind it.

The problem with the Silas thing was that they just through him into a real feud with Steen even though he was clearly not even close to Steen's level on the card. I'm talking about just throwing a guy like Adam Page or Tadarius Thomas or Hanson in there with a Jay Briscoe or an AJ Styles or a Roderick Strong and giving them time to really show us if they can deliver.

Definitely agree with your direction for everything here (and how much better would it be if that Decade vs. Kazaniels match was at an Anniversary Show, although maybe Jacobs/Whitmer vs. a reformed Daniels/Sydal team would fit better thematically [actually, now that I think about it, they should just book Jacobs/Whitmer vs. Daniels/Sydal anyway. It be a perfectly good undercard match for show like SCOH, and would also free Kaz up for a big singles match on the undercard to show that he can deliver]).
You bring up a good point about Briscoe-Page needing to be at a non-big show, and that might be why a reason why they wouldn't do it here. TV tapings are by default, big shows.

The website is now saying the Decade in a six-man tag match and Jay Briscoe will face "a member of the Kingdom."

They are also hyping that Nigel will both name a new #1 contender to the world title and make a ruling on Ciampa.
