OPENING SEGMENT- awesome
Adrian Neville comes out and cuts a promo in which confirms that he will remain a babyface, admits that Sami was the better man last night, and sells how sad it is that Sami can’t be here to celebrate because of the vicious, treacherous attack by Kevin Owens.
Owens came out and said that he doesn’t care if Neville thinks his actions were “shameful.” He says he is here to make it to the top and offers to fight if Neville wants to.

DEVIN TAYLOR INTERVIEWS BECKY LYNCH- she asks Becky why she has changed her attitude. It’s good that Devin finally got around to asking this question after TWO MONTHS. Becky says that she is a heel now because having the fans like you doesn’t matter if you keep losing. She also vows to end Bayley’s career. I think I’m in love.

TYLER BREEZE PROMO- he is going away from NXT to do some modeling. LET THE GOOFY AND AWESOME VIGNETTE’S BEGIN!

BECKY LYNCH vs. BAYLEY- 2.25/10, but great for the time it got.
They didn’t waste any time here. Bayley got shined up, then Becky locked in a really cool knee submission and made Bayley tap.

Someone in the crowd has a “Sasha F’N Banks” t-shirt. Who makes this?

CHARLOTTE PROMO FROM AFTER TAKEOVER R EVOLUTION- good, but they REALLY need to get rid of this whole “genetically superior” schtick.

We get two match announcements:
1. This week’s main event will be Steen vs. Owens.
2. Next week Charlotte will defend the NXT Women’s Title against Sasha. Um… why is Sasha getting a rematch?

REGAL & THE VAUDEVILLANS BACKSTAGE- GREAT!
The Vaudevillans show Regal video evidence that whichever one of them got pinned at Takerover R Evolution was not the legal man. Regal says that they have a good point, promises to get them another tag title match down the line, and says he will “have words with” the referee about this. Regal is awesome.
Then they all laughed together, because.

BULL DEMPSEY vs. A JOBBER- squash.
Yeah… I’m about at the point where I’m going to start giving Dempsey and Corbin’s squashes duds on principle.

And look! You guys will never guess what happened next: Before Dempsey could even make it up the ramp, Corbin’s music played and he came out. The two big men had a staredown on the ramp, and when Corbin made it to the ring, there was magically already a jobber in the ring who got no introduction. Then Corbin squashed the guy. In other words THE SAME EXACT F*CKING THING THEY’VE BEEN DOING FOR WEEKS!
Oh. But it’s different this time because Dempsey stayed out to watch, then shoved Corbin once. Corbin didn’t respond much and just let Dempsey walk away. If Corbin doesn’t give a sh*t, why should I?

THE ASCENSION vs. COLIN CASSADY & ENZO AMORE (w/Carmella)- no rating, okay segment.
Cass had Viktor down but Enzo tagged himself in to get the win and try to impress Carmella, and he wound up getting pinned.

ASCENSION PROMO- good.

KEVIN OWENS vs. ADRIAN NEVILLE- 7.25/10
A good introduction to heel Kevin Steen for fans who haven’t experienced it before. The double count-out was an odd finish, considering the circumstances. Why not just have Kevin go over, especially if h is going to lay Neville out afterwards? (he gave him the powerbomb into the apron).

A good show from NXT.

STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Tensai gives us the old “if I had an injured knee, I’d wear a brace on my other knee instead to throw everybody off” spiel. Apparently he doesn’t understand that the purpose of a brace is to add extra support, and that by wrestling without a knee brace on a knee that needs it, he’d be risking doing a lot of damage to the knee by doing things as simple as running or lifting.

2. Tensai thinks that the fact that Owens is in the main event on just his second NXT show is wrong because Owens needs to “pay his dues.” The counter-example he used was Sami Zayn, saying “it took him fourteen years to get here!”
THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING, YOU DUMB SH*T! The whole angle is that Owens and Zayn were best buddies who came up together on the indies! Why does this count as paying dues for Zayn but not for Owens?

I'm going to wait and see how it goes they may plan on building Neville up for a rematch down the line which if so I think it's a better idea to have the match end with no winner than Owens/Steen going over

i think that if they wanna sell an aggressive and heel Owens, have him win by DQ or ref stopping the match after the Apron Powerbomb. Even going for the count out finish while fighting would be better than both of them lying on the floor

I think that at this point, or at least while this feud is ongoing, you can rule out these matches and just consider them as a segment. that what they were to me. having said that, i'm really enjoying this silent feud, squash matches included.

I try to, but that doesn't make the segments any more enjoyable to me. My problem isn't that they aren't having **** matches. My problem is that it's THE SAME F*CKING THING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. They should have built that match up for this Takeover show and gotten it over with, or not started building it up until this week (maybe start it off on this Takeover show by doing what they did). Between eighteen months of Ascension squashes, Mojo squashes, Colin Cassady squashes, Dempsey squashes, and now Corbin squashes, I am sick of it, and getting two of them per show will just annoy me more.

I also really hate the set-up for this whole thing. Why are their matches booked with literally NO TIME in between them and no one else's are? Why do they ALWAYS wrestle one after the other? Where does the other jobber come from? Why doesn't the other jobber get an intro? (at least with the first one we can pretend he got introduced during a commercial or backstage segment or something)

The execution is admittedly good, but the whole backdrop feels 100% forced and artificial.

if that's what is bothering you, you really need to ease up on it, those things are the most irrelevant things in any feud/booking/storyline ever. Why do you care about the jobbers at all?

It's not the jobbers I care about, it is the presentation of the whole thing. There is one ramp and everyone comes down it to make their entrance. When a wrestler comes out to wrestle, he/she always gets introduced to the crowd by the ring announcer. You always give the competitors from the last match time to clear the ring before sending out the wrestlers for the next match. This is how things ALWAYS happen, and not just in NXT; this is how things ALWAYS happen almost EVERYWHERE.
And now, for just this one instance, all of these things are different, and not just with no explanation, but without even any acknowledgement that things are different. The same rules apply to all of the other matches every week, but when it comes to Baron Corbin and Bobby Dempsey, the rules all change and everyone just seems to go with it. It breaks my suspension of disbelief and takes me out of the show.
It'd be like watching a hockey game with regular hockey rules, but all of a sudden in the middle of the second period, minor penalties are only served for one minute instead of two and the players and announcers all just go with it without in any way acknowledging that something has changed... and then, once the third period starts, things are all back to normal again, once again with no acknowledgment at all. You wouldn't wonder what the hell was going on?
