Some notes from the House of Hardcore show last night in Philadelphia, PA:
The show was a complete sellout with all seats sold and an additional 200 standing room spots sold at the door.
Tommy Dreamer was extremely pleased with how the show went and how it was received. He will be moving forward with trying to run some additional shows next year after running his goal of 4 shows in 2014.
Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks suffered a groin injury while throwing a superkick early on in the Bucks' bout against The Hardy Boys. Backstage after the show, Jackson believed it may be a pull but was obviously concerned it could be a tear. He's going to get it looked at after he returns home to California later today. Having a six hour flight with that injury is going to make for a long, long day.
Eddie Kingston suffered bruised ribs during his bout with Eddie Edwards on the spot where Edwards nailed three dives in a row. Kingston was caught hard on the third dive.
Davey Richards missed the show due to a medical issue stemming from his real life job as an EMT. Richards informed Dreamer on Friday that he may not be able to make the show. Whatever is going on with Richards, we wish him a quick recovery.
Jigsaw missed the show as he was sick and unable to wrestle.
Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo appearing was a surprise put together by Dreamer to really pop the live crowd and give them something special as it was ADR's first appearance in the United States post-WWE. They didn't enter the venue until right before their appearance. Del Rio was legitimately excited to work the Arena and loved the atmosphere of the building.
Beulah McGuillicuty was legitimately overcome by the respect showed to her last night as she hadn't returned to the venue since she left the original ECW in 1998.
TNA champion Bobby Roode, Spike Dudley, Sandman, Little Guido Alberto, Ricardo, Stevie Richards and Team 3D all appeared unannounced.
Visiting at the show were The Blue Meanie and Nick Berk.
The new management of the former ECW Arena announced before the show (and for those of you have been to the venue before, I swear I am not making any of this up) that anyone who moved the chairs in the venue from their set up position, stood on any of the chairs or handed a chair to a wrestler would be ejected from the building. Think about that and then think about the history of what's gone on in that venue. Talk about a new era!
Tony Devito was backstage working as an agent.
Ronnie Lang's Atlas Security was in the house handling security.
The original plan for the show was to open with CW Anderson vs. Danny Doring, but once EC3 was injured, they shuffled the deck and moved Anderson into a run-in spot during Dreamer vs. Bobby Roode. That would seem to open the door for the company to reprise Dreamer vs. Anderson in 2015.
