RASSLIN'

aside from the top rope rule, most of them seem normal rules for pro wrestling, a bit pure rules thing going on, but still things that most companies 'try' to enforce. Some of this rules CMLL will still enforce legit

The tag team save rule surprised me. I always figured it was five seconds, not "each team gets one save."

The piledriver being banned makes me assume that this is the Memphis version of the rules.

Love it! Awesome find Bob-O!

I would like to see promotions go by these rules. Even the top rope one. Especially the top rope one.

Have you watched any ROH in the past year? They don't actually use that rule, but Steve Corino is under the impression that they do, which always makes for amusing commentary when Kevin Kelly has to gently correct him.

I've soured on ROH because there's no TV anywhere near where I am and I still haven't gotten over the clusterf*cks their PPV productions used to be.

You can get their TV on the internet through their website with the free general membership. Or by searching a site like DailyMotion. They've actually put together a run of fantastic TV shows since about mid-July. Everything aside form maybe one show was at least great, if not wholly awesome.

I was just listening to an interview with Les Thatcher today when he talked about an old rule in Charlotte in the early 70s where you had two saves in tag team matches, and how it was built up on TV.

"...when any one team member saves the other on any sure pinning or submission combination more than once..."
Wouldn't that mean that each team member is allowed one save apiece? Making every match a "two save match"? Regardless, I love concept. I'd love to know the specifics on the rope the partner is supposed to be hanging onto while not the legal man...

Think about how much that was in 1974! A hawk-eyed snitch in the crowd could conceivably take home more than one of the guys on the undercard!

As a kid I remember this, and it kind of sucked. Looking back, it was a cool way for a heel to get some heat, by jumping over the top rope and trying to get the ref to believe he'd been thrown. But, think about it, if somebody is getting thrown over the top rope things are getting pretty crazy! Action is picking up, babyface making a comeback or whatever, and *ding *ding *ding - Ref calls for the bell, stops the fight and it's a DQ finish! Sure, it was a good way to stretch out feuds, but also a very "blue balls" type way... just... grrrrr...

Which is perfect when trying to get heat on your chickenshit heel. Besides, for the garbage wrestlers who need to brawl to get a pop, it's only disqualification if they're thrown over the top.
