BRM Reviews the 10/11/2014 ROH

RECAP OF JAY BRISCOE WINNING THE TITLE- important info, and a well-done video package.
TRADITIONAL ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP REIGN OPENING INTERVIEW- An awesome opening segment.
Kevin Kelly asked Jay one or two generic questions about being champion, then immediately transitioned into talking about Jay's quest to regain his "Real ROH World Title," which first Matt Hardy, and now Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis have absconded with, and renamed the Title of Love. Jay vowed to get the title back, because it means a lot to him. Jay was awesome here (probably the first Briscoe promo I have really enjoyed in a very long time), but I didn't like the way the main focus of the interview shifted. It made the ROH World Title look less important than a vanity championship.
Adam Cole came out and they both talked about how much they hated each other. Cole vowed to ring tonight's Honor Rumble and then take the title from Jay in two weeks.
DECADE PROMO- Jimmy Jacobs says that with them and their young boys, all in the Honor Rumble, the will make sure that one of them wins. Whether Jimmy means one of the five (including the young boys) or one of the three actual members of the group is open to debate. Strong and Whitmer are both focused entirely on winning the Honor Rumble themselves. They argue, and Jimmy tries to play peace maker, but BJ walks off.
R.D. EVANS & MOOSE (w/Veda Scott & Ramon) vs. BLOODBOUND WARRIORS (Red Scorpion & Grey Wolf) (w/Prince Nana)-2
Nana is looking for revenge on R.D. for stealing the Embassy from him years ago, so he has brought these guys in to end R.D.'s streak. R.D. was entertaining. The overbooking was dumb. Why was there no DQ both for Veda pulling the referee out of the ring or for her slapping Grey Wolf?
ADAM COLE PROMO- good hype for his match with Cedric Alexander next week.
MARK BRISCOE PROMO- very good. he said he would win the Honor Rumble, in a very Mark Briscoe fashion (he was "ready to do some Honor Rumbling"). They teased a title match between him and Jay.
TWENTY-MAN HONOR RUMBLE FOR A SHOT AT THE ROH WORLD TITLE IN TWO WEEKS- 6.75/10
Fun, and it set stuff up well.
Tadarius Thomas being made to look like a chump will probably lead to something with the Decade. Whitmer made no attempt to save Adam Page at a point when Page was in jeopardy, and Roddy eliminated Adam Page... maybe he was going for Kyle O'Reilly, or maybe he wasn't we're not sure. The only thing we're sure about is that the Decade is crumbling.
Will Ferrara eliminated both Jay Lethal and J. Diesel, so they pulled him out under the bottom rope and they and Truth stomped the crap out of him.
The Ciampa stuff on its own was good, but the big problem I have with it was the lack of follow-up from last week. Bobby Cruise was the ring announcer this week with no mention made of the attack, and when Ciampa showed up, Kevin Kelly just shouted "he's still suspended!" I don't think the suspension was ever announced on TV (edit: they mentioned it afterwards and explained that it's been a few weeks in real time since last week's Road Rage episode from Death Before Dishonor XII: Night 2, but I still think it would have been a lot better to mention Ciampa's suspension right at the start of the show) . I did appreciate that in ROH, you can't just knock someone out and take their number. I also assume that him attacking Cedric will lead to a Ciampa vs. Cedric match at some point.
Roderick Strong eliminated both halves of the tag champs, so that should lead to to a title shot for him.
Bennett won the match. His Kingdom stablemate Adam Cole did not seem happy about this at all.
A good show from ROH.
