I'm guessing you've all seen the news that Daniel Bryan is injured, getting surgery on thursday, and will likely be out until Summerslam...

If Dragon needs to surrender the title, who do you see taking it?

Evolution v Shield and Cena v Wyatt are at a level that don't really need the title nor it would work for them.

I've been thinking a lot about this. Before deciding what to do with the belt, you need to know how long Dragon will be out for. If he's only out until Summer Slam, that makes things difficult as it you really can't use that time elevate someone with the belt (especially not with Shield vs. Evolution and Cena vs. Wyatts being so hot).

When Dragon comes back, you need to have him go for the belt (with the angle being "I never lost it"), although you could have him have a short feud with whoever put him out before you do that. Dragon also really should win the belt back, unless you have something else that is REALLY good planned for him.

Anyway, the realistic choices appear to be: Big Show, Del Rio, Henry, and RVD (Sheamus would have been great if he hadn't just won the US Title), and of those guys, only Show and RVD have looked strong enough to be champions (though Mark is pretty easy to fix, if you do it right). RVD appears to be headed towards something decent with Cesaro based off of last week's finish on Raw (I haven't seen last night's show yet), so that makes Big Show you best bet.
This is much more interesting than trying to book a good reunion for Beer Money and a main event feud with the Wolves. I think I might well spend my afternoon coming up with different scenarios for this.

I'd say, we all know this will be a transitional champ between now and MITB (because the champ at Summerslam needs to be 'big'), so why not shoot out with a newcomer. a champion doesn't need a 20-0 winning streak to be a believable champion, as long as they start that streak as soon as they win, they could even pull off a one-show-tournament that would give someone at least 3 wins during the night to make him either look credible or an overcoming-odds-dark-horse. A pissed off Sandow, a babyface Ziggler, A Paul Heyman Guy, or the unstoppable machine that broke dragon himself.

wwe needs to risk a little right now.

BTW, the authority was right, Daniel Bryan got injured within weeks of his title win, he surely can't perform and stay at a Class A wrestler. They were trying to protected, but no one listed

A champion doesn't have to be on a winning streak, but a champion shouldn't be someone who has recently been losing matches in four minutes, either.

If Dragon is going to be out for a long time, you can do a tournament and put the belt on Cesaro or someone like that to elevate him and then have Dragon win the belt back at Mania or something, but only being the champ for a few months and then losing it back to Dragon as soon as Dragon is healthy will kill someone like Cesaro.

i'm not necessarily saying losing it back to Dragon for SS, but i'm guessing that since there is only one champion now, they want big names for the second biggest show of the year.

i personally don't think Dragon should win the title coming back so quickly. work with Kane, then earn his spot back to the title shot and then, if he's still hot, win it.

Well all of their big names are involved in Shield vs. Evolution or Cena vs. Wyatt. They could, conceivably, put the belt on Brock, but that would require Brock to be around enough to defend it until Mania, when he would lose it to either Dragon, Reigns, or Cesaro.

Too much too soon for Cesaro, maybe, but I think Heyman is the key here. Heyman adds the credibility to the reign, and the title puts credibility back into Heyman (he's still got RybAxel stank on him). I'd much prefer to hear about Brock Lesnar ending The Streak while the World Champion is standing beside him, instead of "...and my OTHER client won a battle royal!"

1.CM Punk- not nearly as probable but it's the only move that would make up for losing Bryan. Plus, Punk v. Bryan is a solid and fresh main event for Summerslam.

2. Bray Wyatt- give him the belt to go with the song. Wyatt beats Cena at Payback and goes on to win the title at MITB. He literally has the whole world in his hands. Bryan hopefully returns at Summerslam and they can have a more developed feud.

3. Cesaro- the pure wrestling they could highlight with a Cesaro/Bryan program would be great for both guys and Paul Heyman could easily keep Cesaro going on the Mic. And the fact that he can wrestle ANYONE on the roster makes him the perfect guy to be a fighting champion.

4. Roman Reigns- May be a bit early to pull the trigger but the moment calls for something big. Reigns is your biggest fan favorite that'll be there for the next couple months. He has to at least get a couple shots.
