WHO DOES DEL RIO CHOOSE?-
Del Rio started this off by saying “I just want to say thank you… thank you for nothing!”
Way to go, Alberto. You sure swerved me there.
He then called Vickie Guerrero a “visionary” for doing something Brad Maddox had done a few weeks ago.
After that atrocious start, though, this was awesome. Del Rio is just a FANTASTIC heel! I saws the Ricardo thing coming, but whoever came up with the idea to have Del Rio suggest the Brooklyn Brawler as a potential challenger IN HOUSTON is a freakin’ genius! Then Vickie came out and they started saying a bunch of words in Spanish which I didn’t understand, so I got frustrated. Aside from the Spanish, though, this was pretty awesome. I love how Vickie is becoming a babyface for completely heelish, self-serving purposes. Anyway, the end result of this is a triple threat #1 contendership main event between Christian, RVD, and Orton. F*CK YES!

See… here’s the problem with Fandango: While trying to hype up Punk vs. Fandango, Riley said that it will be Punk vs. “Fandango, the Master of the Dance.” That does not make me want to see Fandango at all. All he does is dance around and walk out of matches. It’s not entertaining in any way!

CODY RHODES vs. JACK SWAGGER (w/Zeb Coulter)- 3.75/10
WAY too short.

CODY RHODES PROMO- he gets viciously assaulted by Sandow. This was great… but if you were going to do this, why the hell did you need to job Swagger out to Cody a few minutes ago?

BIG E. LANGSTON vs. SIN CARA- good squash

RENEE YOUNG INTERVIEWS KAITLYN- “oh. And Layla’s here, too!”
Kaitlyn attempted to be witty, but she failed, which took the wind out of her babyface promo. Then Layla cut a pointless promo putting Kaitlyn over as being a hard worker.

VICKIE & DEL RIO BACKSTAGE- entirely pointless. Then Brad Maddox showed up for no reason whatsoever. Even more pointlessness!

CM PUNK vs. FANDANGO (w/Summer Rae)- 6.25/10
Lillian screwed up Fandango’s name, but for some reason this doesn’t bother him at all tonight.
Alex Riley outs Fandango as Johnny Curtis. Whoops.
On the bright side, Summer Rae is becoming an outstanding valet. She gets spots getting in the babyface’s face, her reactions to Fandango’s offense are great… she has enough personality that she doesn’t have to talk at all for her personality to shine through.

#1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH BACKSTAGE HYPE SEGMENT- Christian popping up in the middle of RVD’s promo was funny and in character. Orton doing it to Christian was not. It just came across as painfully scripted. Then when it got back to RVD he made quite clear that it was scripted with the horrible dialogue, but Rob’s delivery, which seemed to make clear just how lame he thought this dialogue was, made this entirely hilarious.

WWE DIVAS TITLE MATCH: AJ Lee(c) vs. Kaitlyn (w/Layla El)- no rating. Horrific segment.
Wow. Kaitlyn’s hometown fans apparently don’t even know her music. Doesn’t much matter, though, because they were totally into the match. That is actually the only reason that I didn’t give this a dud. Because the fans were so into the match that I really feel sorry for them for the way this went down.
So Layla randomly turns heel. First of all, if you are going to do a heel turn like this DON’T RANDOMLY CALL ATTENTION TO LAYLA’S PRESENCE IN THE PROMO! She has been coming out with Kaitlyn for months now… and all of a sudden they call attention to it again, which basically gave the turn away. Secondly, this was entirely random. It honestly seems like they wanted to come up with some way to prolong this feud until Summer Slam, but rather than do something simple and obvious, like having AJ cheat, which would get heat on AJ, they do an entirely random turn which gets the heat on Layla, rather than AJ, which doesn’t build up to a rematch for Summer Slam. Thirdly, they gave this no time, and as a result, Kaitlyn taps out in her home town in just three minutes. Oh… and seeing as how this is AJ, I have to wonder if this means there is some romantic attraction between her and Layla now.
I now realize that this is the second time in just over a year that Kaitlyn’s best friend has turned on her, so this is an excellent time to paraphrase Steve Corino:
"Kaitlyn just lost her best friend ..again! Do you know what this means? Kaitlyn is an awful friend!

WINNER BECOMES #1 CONTENDER TO THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Randy Orton vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Christian- 7/10
Before the match, Del Rio came out and cut a promo that, while pointless, was good (aside from when he said he would watch these three guys beat the “guacamole of each other”). The match was great, and Christian gets the win, which builds well from his win on Raw.

Overall a good show, aside from the sh*tty turn.
