BRM Reviews the 6/28/2013 Smackdown (*SPOILERS*)

DUBLIN STREET FIGHT : Sheamus vs. Damien Sandow- 7.25/10
Of course, because this is a “Dublin” Street fight, they have some tables set up with spigots of Guinness and beer kegs. Yeah… this is too uncomfortably close to being racist for my tastes. Okay. Sheamus just pulled a bag of potatoes out from under the ring to hit Sandow with. I’m calling it: this is racist. The match itself was great, but the racism really bothered me.
KANE & DRAGON BACKSTAGE- LOVED IT! And Dragon will be doing commentary for Kane vs. Orton! Can this day get any better?
MIZ TV WITH PAUL HEYMAN- Miz was definitely having an off night, here. They might have actually given him a script this time. Heyman was great, as always, though. Goood build to an eventual IC Title match between these two.
NATALYA vs. AJ LEE (w/Big E. Langston)- no rating. Eh segment.
Before the match Kaitlyn comes out dressed as AJ and makes the same tired old “AJ is a slut” jokes Lawler has been making ever since AJ turned heel. I didn’t see the accusation of lesbianism coming, though.
It seems to me that Nattie’s spot in this match really should go to Layla, who was right there with Kaitlyn last week (and who AJ didn’t face just last week on Smackdown). Well… Kaitlyn distracts AJ, allowing Nattie to pin the champ. Unfortunately, I doubt that this will lead to anything for Nattie.
TEDDY ANNOUNCES THE WHC MONEY IN THE BANK PARTICIPANTS- Cody, Sandow, Barrett, Cesaro, Fandango, Swagger, and Ambrose.
RANDY ORTON vs. KANE- 6.5/10
Good finish, too. I am loving this whole storyline.
JUSTIN GABRIEL vs. RYB ACK- 2.5/10
Why would you have Gabriel get squashed when you could just use a jobber? He did get a in a lot more offense than I thought he would, though.
CHRIS JERICHO PROMO- eh
THE SHIELD vs. THE USOS & CHRISTIAN- 5.5/10
I’m very, very unhappy with the Shield losing here. WWE did a great job at protecting them and establishing that when they lose a trios match, it is special. They should not be losing in five minutes with almost no build! Everyone looked good, but the wrong team went over and the match was too damn short.
FIESTA DEL RIO SEGMENT- Ziggler attacks Del Rio… just like EVERY SHOW SINCE PAYBACK! Think of something new! This is getting way too repetitive.
Overall, a very good episode of Smackdown.
