First, a hilarious tweet from Gabe from this afternoon:
And now, Gabe's write-up from his Facebook page.Gabe Sapolsky @BookItGabe
Is it odd that I have legitimate fear of Condor Security?
I need to write a few words about CHIKARA. I have no idea what's going on. I don't know if last Sunday was the last show or not. I really hope it wasn't. Here's what CHIKARA has meant to me. When I was fired by ROH in October 2008 I thought I went to my last wrestling show. In fact, I didn't even know if I would want to attend wrestling again. I was done. Then things started coming together a few months later. I knew I had to break out of my comfort zone. I actually got to the point that I was nervous about going to another live wrestling show for a variety of reasons. Then I was invited to the CHIKARA King Of Trios 2009 tournament. I was very ignorant and arrogant as to what the CHIKARA brand was during my ROH days. I'll even admit I was a little jealous for the buzz a bunch of wrestling ice cream cones and weird gimmicks was getting. I didn't understand it and I was in my ROH bubble. Then, in the darkest time of my career, CHIKARA welcomed me to come to their shows. I sheepishly went to parts of all three King Of Trios 2009 shows. It was an awaking experience for me. I saw a fresh, exciting brand of wrestling that was unlike anything ever created. I witnessed awesome talents creating and innovating in the ring. I experienced dramatic story telling that hooked me. I was blown away by the ambitious booking. Going to CHIKARA was an epiphany for me. It changed my paradigm about wrestling. It motivated me.
There will never be anything like CHIKARA. I will never attempt to book like they do in CHIKARA. No one can replicate it. I respect this fact so much.
I just want to end this by thanking everyone associated with CHIKARA. I want to thank CHIKARA for being an influence and inspiration to me. I need to thank them for introducing me to and developing many top talents you see in DGUSA and EVOLVE today. I can't thank CHIKARA enough for breathing new life into my wrestling fandom.
