John Cena, the ultimate good guy and teller of all truths, answered a long-standing question for WWE fans everywhere this past Monday night.
Which championship is more prestigious, the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship? According to Cena, The WWE Championship is a bigger challenge.
So there. Question answered. All children aged 3 to 12 will now carry on the belief that the WWE Championship is the holy grail of wrestling, and therefore it shall be. Thank you John Cena.

I don't even know why he tried to make it seem like there was the slightest interest in challenging Del Rio, I would have been ok with him just saying he wants the WWE title back without even talking about the HW title.

He hurt Del Rio somewhat saying it was easier or however he worded it to challenge the World Heayweight Champion...

I thought he worded it just fine. He said that he thought it would be easier to beat Del Rio because of empirical evidence. He has beaten Del Rio before, but he hasn't beaten The Rock. I didn't look at it as him saying that Del Rio was easier to beat than The Rock. I looked at it as him saying that as prestigious as the WHC is, his desire to beat The Rock is so strong that he would willingly take the route that evidence shows he is more likely to fail at in order to win a world title.

i guess it depends on how you heard it, I took it as "Del Rio?? oh ho ho, i can beat that guy easy!" I just think he should have said he wanted another shot against the Rock and the WWE title back, so he was gonna kill two birds with one stone

Exactly how I took it too..."Del Rio ? Yaw ha ha ha ha big deal, I want a challenge!"
And regardless if he's beaten Del Rio before, He's fought The Crock once and lost...Big deal...Doesn't make it that much tougher...And yea, because its always harder to beat a guy who's wrestled five times in ten years at the most, then someone who wrestles every single got dang show...By this logic he should be able to run right over The Crock in no time and be crazy about facin him...And No I didn't exactly type the Crock.

Everyone knew who he was going to challenge going into it, yet he still per the victory had to "make a decision". I kind of liked how he at least humored the WHC option instead of just announcing what we already knew. In today's WWE we sometimes need reminded that the WHC is a major title and not just that 'Shiny Thing' that people fight over at the beginning of Pay Per Views.
I don't see this as a burying Del Rio, but more so trying to put the World Heavyweight Championship over.

People, it is not set in stone who will be the holder of either title come WrestleMania time. Cena wuz not naming namez. He wuz naming championship titlez, az he should. And there you have it. WWE Championship > World Heavyweight Championship.

But he was naming names! The promo was based around how the WWE Championship come Wrestlemania would be held by either CM Punk or The Rock, two guys Cena hasn't been able to beat. He said Punk has "beat me or found a way to win" 6 times in a row, then went on a long tangent about how important last year's match with the Rock was and how he didn't win it. All he said about the WHC was no matter who held it, his odds of winning would be better if he challenged for that championship.
To me, after watching it again, it didn't seem to be about the titles at all, but more so about how if he picked the WWE Championship he'd get another shot at CM Punk or Rock, the two guys with whom he's got something to prove. It was extremely personal.
