NJPW G1 Climax 25: Day 3 (7/24/2015)- Kyoto Japan

MICHAEL ELGIN, MASCARA DORADA, JAY WHITE, & DAVID FINLAY JR. vs. JUSHIN “THUNDER” LIGER, TIGER MASK IV, SATOSHI KOJIMA, & YOHEI KOMATSU- 4.75/10
Elgin had some good strength spots, but the highlight of this match for me was seeing Finlay’s son do a Finlay roll.

CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. BULLET CLUB (Yujiro Takahashi & Cody Hall)- 6.5/10
This went surprisingly long, but I enjoyed it. Cody is coming along very well.

HIROOKI GOTO & CAPTAIN NEW JAPAN vs. BULLET CLUB (Tama Tonga & Karl Anderson)- 4.5/10
Short, but did its job well.

RYUSUKE TAGUCHI, TOMOAKI HONMA, & YUJI NAGATA vs. CHAOS (Shinsuke Nakamura, Kazuchika Okada, & Gedo)- 6/10

G1 CLIMAX 25 BLOCK A MATCH: Doc Gallows vs. Kota Ibushi- 6.25/10

G1 CLIMAX 25 BLOCK A MATCH: Togi Makabe vs. Bad Luck Fale- 5.75/10
Decent hoss fight.

G1 CLIMAX 25 BLOCK A MATCH: Toru Yano vs. AJ Styles- 1.25/10
No DQ for the blatant chairshots from Yano, but when AJ tries to use a chair, the ref stops him. In fact, the ref was so biased that he wouldn’t count a pin when AJ wanted to pin Yano via foot on the chest. Yano shoves the ref into the ropes. Still no DQ. Then he hits AJ with the turnbuckle PAD and AJ bumps for it. This sucks. Now Yano is getting in WAY more offense than he should. There was some drama towards the end with Yano’s cheating for nearfalls, but overall this match SUCKED! This ref should be fired and I hope that Calf Slicer legitimately hurt Yano’s leg so he has to drop out of the tournament.

G1 CLIMAX 25 BLOCK A MATCH: Tetsuya Naito vs. Katsuyori Shibata- 3.75/10
Naito’s supervillain attire needs to go. Naito worked over Shibata’s leg but Shibata barely sold it. Shibata workd over Naito’s head but Naito barely sold that, either. Bad match.

G1 CLIMAX 25 BLOCK A MATCH: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan- 6.75/10
Very blah until the end, which was pretty good.

Not a good show from New Japan. One of their worst major shows in the past few years.
