PWG DDT4 2008: Night 2 (5/18/2008)- Burbank, CA

DDT4 SEMIFINAL MATCH: Los Luchas vs. Roderick Strong & Jack Evans- 6.25/10
Jack looked particularly impressive.

AUSTIN ARIES vs. DAVEY RICHARDS- 7.25/10
Great wrestling!

DAVEY RICHARDS PROMO- good. Davey says he is going on a 3 month tour of Japan, but when he comes back, he will be going after the PWG World Title.

DDT4 SEMIFINAL MATCH FOR THE PWG WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: Kevin Steen & El Generico(c) vs. KAGETORA & EL Blazer- 7/10
Great match. Blazer and KAGETORA look very impressive here. I definitely want to see more of them.

DINO WANTS TORNADO TO VACATE THE PWG WORLD TITLE- bad segment.
Dino Winwood comes out and asks the injured Human Tornado to hand over the PWG World Title. Tornado refuses to do so unless Candice LeRae comes out. She does, but seems tentative. To make her feel more at ease, Tornado leaves his crutches in the corner, making himself mostly defenseless. After feigning a handshake, Tornado grabs a handful of Candice's hair. Dino and the ring announce come to Candice's aid and start to punch Tornado, but Jay Briscoe comes out and hits Dino with a big Yakuza Kick. Then Necro came out, and we started the next match.
This whole thing just came off really awkward, and there is no reason why Tornado still wasn't stripped of the title after this (after all, they were planning on stripping him of the belt anyway, so why would the fact that he isn't being cooperative about it be a factor?). I was expecting the crutches to have been a ruse and for Tornado to just charge at Candice, which would not only be even more dastardly than what he did here, but it would also show that he is able to defend the title, explaining why he would no longer have to vacate it.

BUTCHER'S RULES MATCH: Jay Briscoe vs. Necro Butcher- 3.5/10
They hit each other with chairs a lot (and Tornado occasionally comes in to hit Necro with his crutch) until, at one point, Tornado hits a ref with a crutch and the bell rings for a DQ... but then a minute later Necro pins Jay and the ref counts the pin, so I really have no idea what the result was (the ring announcer said that Necro won the match, but never said if it was by pin or DQ). Necro hit Tornado in his injured leg with his crutch a few times after the match.

CANDICE LERAE, SCORPIO SKY, & 2.0 vs. TJ PERKINS, HOOK BOMBERRY, JOEY RYAN, & SCOTT LOST- 6.75/10
Ronin was originally scheduled to be part of this match but one of the heels took out his injured knee before the match.and Candice came out to replace him.
The match itself was a pretty much what you would expect from a fifteen minute-long eight man tag match. More importantly, though, this match was where Joey and Candice started to develop the stuff that they would entertain audiences with for the next few years, including what I believe is the first ever Boob-Plex

PWG DDT4 FINALS MATCH FOR THE PWG WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: Kevin Steen & El Generico(c) vs. Jack Evans & Roderick Strong- 7/10
Disappointing for a DDT4 Finals.

JACK EVANS & RODERICK STRONG PROMO- good

KEVIN STEEN PROMO- good.

Overall, a decent show from PWG. There was a lot of stuff that was very good, but nothing that really stood out. This show (and the first night of the 2008 DDT4 Tournament), is entirely skippable.
