BRM Reviews CHIKARA: High Noon

Post by Big Red Machine » Nov 13th, '11, 19:52

CHIKARA High Noon (11/13/2011)- Philadelphia, PA

INTRO VIDEO (complete with theme song)- goofy, but that is perfectly acceptable in CHIKARA

THE YOUNG BUCKS vs. THE COLONY (Fire Ant & Soldier Ant)- 8/10 AWESOME. A perfect showcase of everything CHIKARA is.

SARA DEL REY vs. JAKOB HAMMERMEIER- 4.75/10, but oodles and oodles of fun. It's great to see Jakob get his ass kicked like that!

I never noticed it until now, but Jakob Hammermeier looks like Rhett Titus' European cousin

OSIRIAN PORTAL SEGMENT- GREAT heel turn! HOLY SH*T! Didn't see that part of it coming

TURSAS vs. GREEN ANT- 6.75/10

COLT CABANA vs. ARCHIBALD PECK (w/Veronia & Colt CaBunny)- 6.75/10 (but 10/10 on the fun scale!)

ICARUS vs. GREOGRY IRON- 6.5/10. I HATE Icarus SO MUCH!

AFTERMATH- Good stuff. GRAN AKUMA IS BACK!

NO DISQUALIFICATIONS LUCHAS DE APUESTAS MATCH: UltraMantis Black(mask) & Hallowicked(mask) vs. Tim Donst(hair) & Ares(the Eye of Tyr)- 8/10. Good finish, which sets up a couple of interesting possibilities for next season.

MATCH TO CROWN THE FIRST EVER CHIKARA GRAD CHAMPION: Mike Quackenbush (w/Jigsaw) vs. Eddie Kingston (w/Tommy Dreamer)- 8.5/10. Awesome match with amazing storytelling, but I honestly think that the heel turn should have gone a little further (like, at least a low blow [preferably followed by a finisher for an amazing nearfall]) and should have been more solid. I wouldn't have changed the result, but I would have had the turn be much more solid, just to take the crowd from 50-50 to 100-0.

Overall, a GREAT show by CHIKARA. I will almost certainly be ordering the next one.

I wasn't disappointed. It had everything I like a wrestling show. From a little laugh to great moments that make you take notice.

Good show from Chikara. And that's coming from a non-Chikara fan.
