BRM Reviews the 11/3/2011 Imapct (OMFG it was GOOD!)
OPENING SEGMENT- eh. The promos were good… but they would make you forget that these guys had done anything before Beer Money, which (especially in Storm’s case), ignores important parts of TNA’s history.
They really need to come up with a name for Sting’s position, because Tenay should not be referring to him as “Authority Figure.” It just sounds moronic. Commissioner, GM, Director of Events… whatever you want to call it… just make it SOMETHING!
TNA KNOCKOUTS’ TITLE MATCH: Tara & Miss Tessmacher(c) vs. Gail Kim & Madison Rayne (w/Karen Jarrett & Traci Brooks)- 4/10. Rats. This means we probably won’t be seeing Tara or Tessmacher on TV much anymore.
GARRETT BISCHOFF “APOLOGIZES” TO HIS FATHER- What is the point of a swerve if you are going to telegraph it so blatantly?!
JOE-STING SEGMENT- GREAT!
BISCHOFF’S OFFER TO STING- good (and finally we get a reason for why Bischoff hasn’t been fired yet).
DANIELS PROMO- eh. I like Daniels redefining what a “win” is, but this whole thing with him denying that he quit doesn’t fit in with it. RVD attacking him was good, too. Rob feels disrespected enough (and RVD has always been a bit of an arrogant jerk) that he can occasionally do things like that.
AUSTIN ARIES vs. JESSE SORENSEN- 4.75/10
STORM & ROODE PROMO- Great (especially Roode’s promo, which is one of those great things where, if you go back and watch it after the show, seems to take on a completely different meaning.
ROBBIE E & ROB TERRY BEAT UP EY AND A JERSEY SHORE DOUCHE- bad wrestling TV, but satisfying to watch.
JEFF JARRETT & BULLY RAY vs. MR. ANDERSON & JEFF HARDY- 5/10, but the DQ was well done. It really made you feel like the heels stole the real victory from the babyfaces.
STING & GARRETT BISCHOFF SEGMENT- not bad.
MORGAN & CRIMSON- Great segment
TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: James Storm(c) vs. Bobby Roode- 8/10. I HATED the finish, but I have to admit that they did it very well. I have to especially comment on how awesome the camerawork was, as well as Roode’s facial expressions. I really felt like I could see Bobby weighing the pros and cons and making the decision in his head. The ref bump looked kind of stupid, though. Just make it be a normal ref bump, then have a new ref come down to make the count. Should this have been done on PPV? Of course, but at least they didn’t do a crappy job of it, too.
Overall, Impact was actually very enjoyable this week, and there was almost nothing bad on this show.
Stupid Announcer Quotes:
1. Tenay- “Anderson is the kind of guy who doesn’t work well with others, and that was the downfall of his relationship with both Immortal and Bully Ray”- NO IT WASN’T! The “downfall” of that particular relationship was because Bubba was being a douche all the time! Anderson was on board with the whole Immortal thing.
This week, we have a special, first time ever Stupid Guest Announcer Quote:
In an attempt to make fun of Sorensen and his babyface crowd-pleasing-ness, Kid Kash asks “why would you jump out of a perfectly good wrestling ring unless it's on fire?”

My only major issue with the main event was how the referee couldn't see all those shards of broken bottle. The evidence was right there in his face and he couldn't see it at all much less put two and two together?

It is the same as the referee not hearing a chairshot. If you are a referee, you can't go based on what you think happened (after all, Eddie Guerrero used to win matches that way all the time). The ref probably has a good idea what happened, but he can't call it because he didn't see it.Verdun wrote:My only major issue with the main event was how the referee couldn't see all those shards of broken bottle. Bobby Roode heel turn was a classic. Turns happen all the time in wrestling and I can't even put my finger on what made this one special but I dunno, this was well done. Best turn I've seen in a long time.

I have to agree with e-moose on Roode's heel turn. Even though I knew it was coming and my brain jumped right to it when they focused on that beer bottle, it still broke my heart to see it happen. That has to mean they did something right. Even though I knew it was happening, it was still sad when it happened.
I can't wait for Roode/Storm in the future.

It was probably that nice, long, pained look at the beer bottle.e-moose wrote:Bobby Roode heel turn was a classic. Turns happen all the time in wrestling and I can't even put my finger on what made this one special but I dunno, this was well done. Best turn I've seen in a long time.

I know, but that big chunk of bottle right there out in the open just really set me off. I was practically yelling to just turn your head and see the piece.Big Red Machine wrote:It is the same as the referee not hearing a chairshot. When they come, they'll come at what you love.

Referees should always kayfabe see the replays. If no one even informs them of what happened then it's stupid. The decision of the match should be reversed based on the replay. Funny how sometimes someone cheats to win then the referee looks at the replay and either restarts the match or reverses the decision.KILLdozer wrote:it doesnt matter..he didnt see it so he cant really honestly prove it

Which is why they should never use replay. Just like baseball doesn't, and with the same justification.Rabid619 wrote:Referees should always kayfabe see the replays. But then how would you get cheating heel heat Michael?Big Red Machine wrote:Which is why they should never use replay. It's how heels get hated, by cheating guys out of matches by using ropes or a handful of tights... It's simply a great way to get heat. You CANNOT take it away.

Exactly! See: Evolve for what a promotion looks like when that happens.Lynas wrote:But then how would you get cheating heel heat Michael?Big Red Machine wrote:Which is why they should never use replay. Re: BRM Reviews the 11/3/2011 Imapct (OMFG it was GOOD!)
As Stone Cold Steve Austin once said to justify screwing Bret Hart out of the Royal Rumble, the WWE (and TNA in this case) does not utilise the instant replay rule!

Re: BRM Reviews the 11/3/2011 Imapct (OMFG it was GOOD!)
What irks me about the whole replay thing is that only in a few instances when the replay is shown, does the referee look at it then reverse the decision. It needs continuity. Miz beat Cena earlier this year on an episode of RAW with the title on the line, Cena was the champ at that time, by clocking him in the head with the title belt which the referee originally did not see. After the match he LOOKS AT THE REPLAY and restarts the match. Thats what i find stupid. I'm all for the no replays in wrestling because in a situation like that, it kills the heel heat.

Re: BRM Reviews the 11/3/2011 Imapct (OMFG it was GOOD!)
No..He saw the belt when Riley came in and handed it to him.. then the ref knew he hit him with it.,Miz got caught with the smokin gun.Rabid619 wrote:What irks me about the whole replay thing is that only in a few instances when the replay is shown, does the referee look at it then reverse the decision. Re: BRM Reviews the 11/3/2011 Imapct (OMFG it was GOOD!)
Referee can't KNOW, he's got to have evidence which in that case would have only been if he saw it happen. Would have been more incriminating if the belt was seen lying in the ring.KILLdozer wrote:No..He saw the belt when Riley came in and handed it to him.. then the ref knew he hit him with it.,Miz got caught with the smokin gun.
Another example, SummerSlam 2006. Randy Orton pins Hogan with his foot on the ropes. Referees DOES NOT see it then sees the replay and restarts the match. Terrible....

Re: BRM Reviews the 11/3/2011 Imapct (OMFG it was GOOD!)
yea I know about the bit with the ref knowing,it completely contradicts the whole ref didnt see it he has to be as fair as can be bit,Rabid619 wrote:Referee can't KNOW, he's got to have evidence which in that case would have only been if he saw it happen.
