Former WWE SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair is reportedly taking time off from WWE.

PWInsider reported the news on Tuesday, saying she informed the company about it this past WrestleMania 39 weekend.

It's unknown what the reason is or how much time she will be off, but the break is possibly related to her desire to take part in a bodybuilding competition this summer -- something she mentioned being interested in during media appearances leading up to this past weekend.


Flair lost the title to Rhea Ripley on Saturday in one of the weekend's most highly-regarded matches.

The 36-year-old made her surprise return last December and defeated Ronda Rousey for the title in quick fashion to begin her 14th title reign. Since returning, she had worked a regular schedule on both SmackDown and house shows.

She had missed a considerable amount of time for her wedding to Andrade El Idolo after last May's WrestleMania Backlash when she lost to Rousey in an I Quit match where her arm was broken in storyline.
