Last night's Raw averaged 1.78 million viewers, an expected increase over recent weeks due to the Drew McIntyre WWE Championship win over Randy Orton in the main event.

As expected, there was no major third hour drop due to that match going on last. On the flip side, the viewers gained from recent weeks were mostly over the age of 50, as the younger demos were down from last week, with 18-49 doing a 0.51 and 18-34 doing a 0.24.

The total audience was up five percent, but 18-49 was down four percent and 18-34 was down eight percent.

Unlike last week, where the women's audience maintained, this week it was different. From the first-to-third hour, women 18-49 were down 25 percent, showing women not being nearly as interested in the title match. Men 18-49 were up one percent, which is very unusual, but not unexpected. Teenage girls dropped 21 percent and teenage boys were up eight percent. Over 50 only dropped two percent, which is exceedingly low.

Raw was 27th for the night overall, which is better than it has been doing, as news numbers were down. Raw beat all entertainment shows on cable overall, losing only to NFL-related programming on ESPN (Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings did 11.45 million viewers, 3.23 in 18-49, and 2.41 in 18-34) and news shows. But Raw beat all news shows in 18-49, trailing only three NFL related shows on ESPN and Below Deck on Bravo (0.53).

Raw was fourth behind the NFL in males 18-49, sixth in 18-34, and fifth in males 12-34.

Raw was down 16 percent from the same week last year overall, 25 percent in 18-49, and 44 percent in 18-34.

The three hours were:

8 p.m. 1.87 million viewers
9 p.m.. 1.74 million viewers
10 p.m. 1.73 million viewers

Isn't this like, the third year in a row where they've done a TV world title change for Survivor Series, and it's the only world title change on TV all year

Yeap, they keep booking on the spot and find themselves with matches they don't want to do at SS. I personally didn't think this was worth changing IMO, Galloway vs Reigns could make them more money at a WM, whereas Reigns vs Orton is meh, good enough for a SS.

Considering we're three months away from Royal Rumble, I'm fine where everybody's at for right now. Give both guys a solid run with the titles, have somebody lose their belt, win Royal Rumble 2022 and challenge them at Mania. McIntyre shouldn't have dropped to begin with, but the match on Raw looked solid, so it's not all bad.

Right. And pretty much the only reason to put the belt on Orton seemed to be to avoid giving away Reigns vs. Drew at Survivor Series!

And, of course, if they keep finding themselves in situations where they're having to change the world title because they don't want to give away a certain match at Survivor Series, you'd think the solution would be obvious: STOP DOING THE STUPID, POINTLESS CHAMPION VS. CHAMPION MATCHES!

WOW WOW WOW, you mean actually use stable vs stable storylines they've been building with groups like Retaliation and the Hurt Business to book instead of the quick easy way out of all champions vs champions in the ONE night that RAW and Smackdown get to wrestle each other!?

Get outta here with that!

Hey... when things aren't working, sometimes you've got to try something radical and unheard of.

One more note on the stupidity of Survivor Series. This one if from Lance Storm:

Why do they do Survivor Series right after the draft when they tell us "if these guys are drafted to different brands, they won't be able to face each other for at least a year!"... and then they immediately book a PPV that's all about people from Raw fighting people from Smackdown? Wouldn't it be better to do the draft right after Survivor Series, so that when you get to the Raw vs. Smackdown PPV, the match-ups are fresh?

Alvarez brings this up every year, not only could first picks be a perfect thing on the line for the raw vs smackdown 5v5, but they also wouldn't try to sell you that all these wrestlers have brand loyalty after a couple of weeks there

The only bright spot this year is that they have toned the "brand loyalty" thing down a lot.

I just occurred to me that Daniel used the opportunity to have a really standout match directly after turning heel against Brock. I really hope Roman gets to use the opportunity to really cement his new Tribal Chief persona against Drew.

What else would you like Roman to do to be a heel that he hasn't done yet? Strangle a puppy?

It's moreso "I'd like to see him be a dick to someone who isn't an Uso." While his feud with the Usos has been interesting he hasn't had a super big opponent yet.

He ordered Jey Uso to attack Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan. Doesn't that qualify?
