Natural Nightmares/Moxley out of AEW Dynamite match due to precautions

AEW president and CEO Tony Khan tweeted that The Natural Nightmares have been pulled from their match with FTR on Wednesday's edition of Dynamite and are being replaced by SCU.

The reason is because over the last week, QT Marshall had "brief contact with a non-wrestling acquaintance who since tested positive for COVID-19. Rather than risk bringing QT to our test site, our doc asked him to stay home & take a COVID test back in GA to protect the rest of us here."

Last week's Dynamite was taped while tonight's show is live from Daily's Place in Jacksonville, FL.

This will be FTR's second AEW match to date following their win over The Butcher & The Blade two weeks ago on Dynamite. Other than battle royals, the SCU pairing of Daniels and Kazarian are undefeated in their AEW tenure and are coming off a win on Tuesday's Dark against Musa and David Ali. They were not scheduled for tonight's show.

Already announced for tonight: a Chris Jericho/Orange Cassidy faceoff, Mr. Brodie Lee & Colt Cabana vs. Sonny Kiss & Joey Janela, Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus in a lumberjack match, Matt Hardy vs. Santana, and AEW World champion Jon Moxley in action. Sammy Guevara was set to face Hardy, but was suspended this week for inappropriate comments he made four years ago on a podcast.

Wait... the headline says Moxley is also out, but the article doesn't.

Also, there shouldn't be a reason to pull Dustin unless Q.T. was in contact with this person before last week's show was taped, and if that's the case you'd think they would pull Allie, Page, and Omega, too, as they were all inn close quarters with Q.T.

my bad. Moxley is also supposed to be out due to contact with someone who had contact with someone who had COVID, and I was mixing articles and i seem to have missed the PASTE.

i think they just pulled the match altogether and didn't see a point in bringing in Dustin, unless Dustin and QT get together during the week to prep their matches. Does Dustin work in the same QT wrestling school?

UPDATE WITH MOXLEY STORY

As a COVID-19-related precautionary measure, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley won't be appearing on tonight's episode of Dynamite.

"Recently @JonMoxley had contact with someone who had contact with someone who has COVID-19. Mox did the right thing & warned us. Doc asked him to stay home & get tested to protect us here at our test site. Cage will be in action tonight on #AEWDynamite ahead of their title fight," AEW president and CEO Tony Khan announced today.

"Jon Moxley can get slammed on a car, crawl through tacks & fall through the stage, but it’s every bit as cool that he came forward & told us he’d had secondhand exposure to COVID. We test everyone here at #AEWDynamite, but Jon protected everyone onsite like the great champ he is."

Moxley was originally supposed to be in action tonight in a match where Cage's manager Taz was going to be on commentary.

Cage's opponent for tonight's show hasn't been announced. Cage is set to challenge for Moxley's AEW World Championship at Fyter Fest, which is a two-week event that begins next Wednesday. Part two of Fyter Fest will then air the following week.

Moxley is the second wrestler to be pulled from tonight's Dynamite as a precautionary measure. Khan announced earlier today that QT Marshall is also off tonight's show: "Since last week’s show, in his everyday life, QT had brief contact with a non-wrestling acquaintance who since tested positive for COVID-19. Rather than risk bringing QT to our test site, our doc asked him to stay home & take a COVID test back in GA to protect the rest of us here"

FTR had been set to face Marshall & Dustin Rhodes tonight. It will now be FTR vs. SCU's Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian.
