BRM Reviews WCPW Pro Wrestling World Cup Finals: Night 2

WCPW Pro Wrestling World Cup Finals: Night 2 (8/24/2017)- Manchester, UK

PRO WRESTLING WORLD CUP QUARTERFINAL MATCH: Penta El 0M vs. Ricochet- 5.5/10
This started out good but just became a bunch of spots. Whenever I see each guy give the other a Canadian Destroyer within twenty seconds of each other, it’s a major turn-off for me, and this match had that, then a Package Piledriver on the apron, then the Fear Factor- all kicked out of… and then Penta goes for a f*cking surfboard and bridges it back into a pin but Ricochet gets his shoulders up despite taking all of this punishment and being the one in the hold while Penta can’t? COME ON!

PRO WRESTLING WORLD CUP QUARTERFINAL MATCH: Hiromu Takahashi vs. Joseph Conners- 5.75/10
We start off with Darry stuff because apparently fans want to see that more than wrestling. After that they got more serious, with Hiromu working the knee but losing via small package.

PRO WRESTLING WORLD CUP QUARTERFINAL MATCH: Will Ospreay vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey- 8.75/10
This was the crazy athletic, flip-filled match-up you’d expect from these two, with both guys also working the head with their vicious kicks, and a nice little story about Speedball having a lot of Ospreay’s stuff scouted mixed in.

PRO WRESTLING WORLD CUP QUARTERFINAL MATCH: Zack Sabre Jr. vs. KUSHIDA- 8.25/10
This was a good half-hour of technical wrestling with both guys working the arm and selling their own arm well, but it had trouble reaching that next gear to be something truly memorable. Still, it was a half hour of excellent technical wrestling with one hell of a struggle for the finish (which will definitely be the thing I remember most about his match), so it’s still well worth your time to watch.

A fun, short little show from WCPW. The decision to only book these four matches and give them basically the full two hours rather than booking some other matches as well (especially given the insane amount of talent around the UK over the course of these few weeks) was pretty bold and unconventional, but I thought it was the right choice, as it really put the tournament over as being the single most important thing going on in the company right now, and that is how something as ambitious as this tournament should be portrayed. Now we’ll give our four remaining wrestlers a day off before we head into the finals of the World Cup of Pro Wrestling.

they taped a LOADED show on the same night, so live fans did get the whole show with the people not in the tournament.

Then why not put the whole show out? Kind of odd not to.

cuz the rest of the matches were for the episodes of LOADED. You'd have to check out those show separately.
