BRM Reviews TNA Genesis

TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH: Jay Lethal(c) vs. Kaz- 6.5/10. Really good opener.

AJ-FLAIR-BISCHOFF SEGMENT- not very good. It didn’t do anything they haven’t done for the last three weeks. Bischoff is a heel. We get it. Just tell us that AJ is injured.

TNA KNOCKOUTS' TITLE MATCH: Madison Rayne(c) vs. Mickie James- 5.5/10. Was going well until the stupid, overbooked finish. She is already cheating with a distraction. She doesn’t need to resort to something stupid like a loaded glove, too. Just have her pin Mickie with a small package!

TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Motor City Machine Guns(c) vs. Beer Money- 7.25/10.

“BULLY” RAY vs. DEVON- 5.5/10.- Ends in a DQ after Devon snaps. This was fine, but the post-match pull apart brawl with Bubba hitting Devon with a low blow at the end was dumb. If you are going to have Devon snap, then Bubba shouldn’t be the one to escape with the heat.

JEFF JARRETT PROMO- okay.

7. TNA TV TITLE MATCH: Doug Williams(c) vs. Abyss- 6.25/10. The match was restricted by the story it wanted to tell. They told their story very well... until the finish... when, despite Bischoff telling AJ earlier that he didn't care about AJ's kids, and despite a month of berating him... AJ hit Williams with the belt to help Abyss win, thus remaining a heel. What a waste of an angle (not to mention all of that time on TV... just to swerve us).

RVD-BISCHOFF SEGMENT- great, and it lead perfectly to....

ROB VAN DAM vs. MATT HARDY-6.25/10. This was going well until a stupid “controversial” finish.
RVD’s reaction to Matt was perfect. His jaw just dropped.

JEFF JARRETT vs. KURT ANGLE- DUD!
This match took place in three rounds of two minutes each. And two minutes can seem like an eternity when you are bored as hell. I actually started throwing a tennis ball against the screen during this match. That is how boring it was. Yet another stupid finish.

#1 CONTENDERS' MATCH: Matt Morgan vs. Mr. Anderson-6.75/10

TNA WORLD TITLE MATCH: Jeff Hardy(c) vs. Mr. Anderson- 6.75/10. The overbooking worked here, and it helped this match a lot.

Overall, this show was good, but not even close to great. There was nothing here worth going out of your way to see, and only one match that cracked 7/10.

Stupid Announcer Quotes:
1. Tenay- “That attack by Abyss Thursday night on Impact”- It was a MATCH. Abyss didn’t jump Lethal from behind or anything. It was a PRE-ANNOUNCED MATCH!

2. Taz- “Maybe referee Andrew Thomas would have disqualified Abyss if he had connected with that shot [with the TV Title Belt]”- MAYBE? IT’S A SHOT WITH A FOREIGN OBJECT! He damn well better have!

3. Tenay keeps talking up that when Jarrett made it an “exhibition”… THAT let Kurt come back, because at that point, it stopped being a wrestling match. This doesn’t make sense, because they always said it was “MMA” before that, too.

He already had something to do: Defend and then try to regain the title.
