Impact Wrestling
January 4th, 2018
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Show starts with Lambert and ATT arriving. Lambert says it's just him and Storm, he doesn't need back up tonight. "he's just a wrestler". Then we get promos for all 4 title matches we have tonight. So a pretty loaded show.

Impact X-Division Championship Match
Taiji Ishimori vs Trevor Lee (C) w/Caleb Konley - 7.5/10
Match started with Lee and Ishimori doing some mat wrestling, but quickly enough, Konley started to make his presence felt with constant involvement. Eventually, Ishimori would make a comeback and take out Konley, and from this point on, the match got pretty great. There was an awesome spot with Lee countering a handspring plancha into his running plancha counter. Ishimori won clean with the 450 Splash.

Dezmond meets Ishimori - Dezmond is the first to congratulate Ishimori, and remind him that he has a pin on him and asks for a title shot. Ishimori agrees.

LAX Promo - Konnan is pissed off cutting a great small promo.

James Storm Interview - Good babyface promo fighting for his career.

Impact Grand Championship 3-Way Match
Fallah Bahh vs "Reborn" Matt Sydal vs Ethan Carter III (C) - 7.5/10
Fallah Bahh is not fast or crisp, but his steamroller style is so unorthodox that it makes for a great clash of styles between the three of them. Bahh dominated the whole first round earning the judges win. In the second round, Sydal and ECIII straight up took out Bahh to make sure they would kill his momentum, and this way, Sydal and ECIII got at it one-on-one, which ECIII dominated the most. ECIII gets the second round.

Final round saw all three men going at it again, but they kept bringing up that Sydal is the only one without a round, so he NEEDS to pin someone. It all builds up to Sydal going for the SSP on ECIII, and he gets the pin ONE second late. Fans started chanting for sudden death, but judges give the round to ECIII as he retains. Great match, but the finish does leave a sour taste. Bahh became a fan favorite tonight.

Prior to the careeer vs career match, we see KM attack Moose.

Allie Interview - Fiery promo by Allie showing a more aggressive side, but Van Ness comes out of nowhere and attacks her.

Career vs Career No Holds Barred Match
"Cowboy" James Storm vs Dan Lambert - No rating, underwhelming segment.
It took about 1 minute for everyone from ATT to jump in and attack him one by one, but every time that Lambert would pin him, Storm would kick out. Storm managed to superkick everyone and it seemed like Lambert was finally easy pickings, but KM comes in and breaks a beer bottle on Storm, and Storm still kicks out. At the end Colby and Mo hit a beer bottle con-chair-to, so con-beer-bottle-to and Lambert finally pins him.

If this was Storm's goodbye, this was HUGELY underwhelming. He didn't give much of a fight, literally no one came out to help him, but sure as hell

Post-match - We saw backstage footage of all the babyfaces reeving Storm in the back applauding them, why the fuck didn't they come out to take out ATT!? We also see Storm talking to his family saying he'll see them soon.

Joseph Park Origin Story - We saw a whole video package of how Joseph Park came in to Impact looking for Abyss. Immortal, Aces & 8's, hell of a backflash. Then we got the whole Joseph Park vs Bully Ray match from Slammiversary. This all builds to

Chandler Parks vs John Bolen - Reverse Squash
Yes, Chandler Park's in-ring debut. This was a reverse squash, Bolen kicked Parks' ass all match until Joseph Parks cheap shot him after bad mouthing his grandma and Chandler gets the roll up win.

Matt Sydal Promo - Old Man Sydal, sounding slightly heelish, saying he's tired of ECIII

Eli Drake and Alberto El Patron Promos - Good promos, Drake was awesome as always.

Impact Global Championship
Alberto El Patron vs Eli Drake (C) - 5/10
This match took place in god knows where, banners say Wrestle Pro. Place looks like shit since all the rafters are empty. Having said that, the video angles of the in-ring action look good. Match was back and forward, Patron mostly working babyface, which is not all that aligned with the dick he is on Impact. Drake won after nailing Patron with the belt. The belt shot was because of a promo Drake cut saying that Patron had to pay for DDTing Drake on the title and busting him up.

Impact World Tag Team Championship Match, If LAX loses, they're gone
Latin American Xchange w/Konnan vs Ohio Versus Everything (C) - 8/10
OVE jumped LAX during their entrance. Once inside the ring, it was only both Crists and Santana, I have no idea where Ortiz, Callihan, Homicide, or Konnan are at this point, but Santana is going handicap for now. It took him a while, but Ortiz eventually made it back to the ring just in time for Santana to take a break, and from here on the match was back and forward, with some pretty kick-ass spots like Jake Crist intercepting a Doomsday Device with a top rope cutter. LAX win the titles at the end clean.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
A big start for 2018 with a really packed show. Two titles changed hands and James Storm 'retired' from Impact. There was a lot of filler, but it didn't hurt the big matches.

Okay. I'm seriously debating watching it. Did they tape the new stuff yet?
