BRM Reviews WWE Hell in a Cell 2012

Post by Big Red Machine » Oct 29th, '12, 11:12

WWE Hell in a Cell 2012 (10/28/2012)- Atlanta, GA

RANDY ORTON vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO (w/Ricardo Rodriguez)- 7/10
An some stiff kicks, an armbar hanging in the ropes, a rope-hung double stomp… was that really Del Rio in there or did Low Ki grow a foot and some hair? Or maybe he was someone else because I’m not sure what he was thinking the second time he went to the top, but the way he came down it looked like he was going to a Mixed Martial Archie style top rope move. A great opener.

VICKIE & HEYMAN BACKSTAGE- eh

WWE TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Team Hell No(c) vs. Team Rhodes Scholars- 6/10
Good match with a bad finish. Why was Kane DQed? If he was in the ring too long after making a tag, then so was Sandow. A double DQ would have been better

MIZ PROMO- okay

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Kofi Kingston(c) vs. The Miz- 7/10
Great match!

WWE UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH: Antonio Cesaro(c) vs. Justin Gabriel- 4.75/10

REY MYSTERIO & SIN CARA vs. THE PRIME TIME PLAYERS- 5.75/10

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Sheamus(c) vs. The Big Show- 8/10
Great storytelling and Sheamus looked extremely tough, but the wrong guy went over!

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT WITH EVE, TEDDY, RYDER, SANTINO & RON SIMMONS- this sh*t stopped being funny a long time ago. It is so pointless and obnoxiously transparent. Once Ryder showed up dressed as a witch, you knew where everything was going. Teddy Long’s part just felt like pointless exposition, and Ron Simmons saying “DAMN” stopped being funny in 2007. If they really wanted a pop they would have Ron Simmons walk in on something so ridiculous that instead of saying “damn,” he said “WHAT THE F*CK?!”

WWE DIVAS TITLE MATCH: Eve Torres(c) vs. Kaitlyn vs. Layla El-5/10
A lot better than I was expecting. Some fun three-way spots in here.

BIG SHOW PROMO- GREAT!

HELL IN A CELL MATCH FOR THE WWE TITLE: CM Punk(c) (w/Paul Heyman) vs. Ryback- 6.5/10
Usually this wouldn’t be good enough for a main event, but because of the nature of the finish here, I’ll let it go. Speaking of the finish… WOW! Genius booking on the finish there! How do cheat in a Hell in a Cell match? That’s how!

RYBACK BEATS PUNK UP AFTER THE MATCH- it would have been a lot better to have Punk escape and just have Ryback destroy the ref. Ryback doesn’t need to get revenge on Punk now. He should get his revenge on Punk at the next PPV.

Overall, a very good show from the WWE. Certainly worth watching once, but I’m not sure I’ll buy it when it comes out on DVD.

Big Show winning was best, this shows Sheamus what happens if he doesn't take Show seriously, no matter how tough you are, this is Big Show and he can kick your ass. This will prompt a more focused Sheamus, which should be a better Sheamus.

I guess, although I didn't see Sheamus not taking Show seriously during the match. I also think it kind of wasted the kickout of the WMD.

true, but it was pretty much the story of the last month, and having show dominate the whole match makes me think that Sheamus wasn't all that prepared for Show, like he came in with his normal game, which works with most people, but not a giant. The kickouts I'm ok with because both show and sheamus kicked out several times, plus it makes sheamus look strong, just not prepared, reason why i'm really hyped about a rematch

Good point. The announcers should have put that concept over more strongly, though.
