BRM Reviews the 12/31/2021 Rampage

DARBY ALLIN (w/Sting) vs. ANTHONY BOWENS (w/Max Caster)- 6.5/10
Sting and Darby are undefeated as a tag team. How have they not gotten a title shot yet?
Darby won clean.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- Andrade came out to distract everyone, allowing the Acclaimed to attack Darby and Sting with weapons.

TECHNIQUE WITH TAZ- good
Proud Papa Taz focuses on his son’s moves.

STREET FIGHT: Penelope Ford & The Bunny vs. the Dark Order (Anna Jay & Tay Conti)- 7.5/10
Why wouldn’t The Bunny just start the match with the brass knuckles already on? And why the hell would Anna Jay take them off once she got a hold of them?
Tables painted with your design on them are stupid.
Conti (from a bottle to the head) and Bunny (from a brass knucks shot) were both bleeding early. Bunny bled a lot. This was a good old-fashioned big weapons spots and blood match, which I hadn’t seen in quite a while. They broke tables, went into thumbtacks, etc. The finish (a Queenslayer with barbed wire wrapped around Anna’s arm) was excellent.

ADAM PAGE VS. BRYAN DANIELSON VIDEO PACKAGE- great

MARK HENRY INTERVIEWS THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE MAIN EVENT- bad
F*cking Cody is wearing a t-shirt that has both the words “babyface” and “heel” on it on TV. One wonders what the American Dream would say about breaking kayfabe so blatantly. Lambert was fine. Arn was not good. He was just all over the place, in one breath talking about how Cody would play into the advantage of being the champion, but then saying that Cody would be on offense all match. Cody did not speak (likely for fear of being booed).

AEW TNT TITLE MATCH: Cody Rhodes(c) (w/Arn Anderson) vs. Ethan Page (w/Dan Lambert & Scorpio Sky)- 6.75/10
Cody worked the knee. Scorpio Sky interfered, so Dustin came out and brawled away with him. Cody won with the same combo of two CrossRhodes chained into a Tiger Driver 98 (although I’m pretty sure that’s really just a Double Underhook Piledriver, and the real Tiger Driver 98 was more of a Tigerbomb and was much scarier) that he used to beat Sammy Guevara last week.
I guess Dustin won his brawl with Sky… and what a coincidence that he won it with just enough time left to get back to the ring in time to celebrate Cody’s win with him.

A good episode of Rampage, though mostly on the strength of the Street Fight.
