BRM Reviews the 8/27/2021 Rampage

TAG TEAM #1 CONTENDERSHIP TOURNAMENT FINALS: Lucha Bros. (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. A Boy & His Dinosaur (w/Marko Stunt)- 7/10
Good action here. They had a basketball guy in the crowd and kept cutting to him an annoying amount of times. Lucha Bros. won clean.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- decent
The Young Bucks, who had been watching from the stage, attacked the Lucha Bros. Jurassic Express made the save.

CM PUNK VS. DARBY ALLIN VIDEO PACKAGE- good

MIRO BEATS UP FUEGO DEL SOL ON HIS WAY TO THE RING- fine
He says he is punishing Fuego for taking something he didn’t deserve. He tells Fuego to “show your face to the Lord” and rips his mask off, then kicks him in the face. For the second time in a few weeks now, Fuego is getting beating up and his supposed best friend Sammy Guevara is nowhere in sight. In stead it is Eddie Kingston coming out to make the save. A crash of referees emerged from the back to break them up.

TAY CONTI vs. THE BUNNY (w/the Blade)- 4.5/10
If Tay Conti is on a FIFTEEN-MATCH WINNING STREAK, why are we doing a f*cking giant battle royale to determine who is getting a title shot next. And she’s only ranked THIRD, so the first two people are presumably even more deserving of a title shot than she is (I assume one of them is Kris Statlander, who is getting the title shot at the upcoming PPV).
Shooting that running elbow in the corner dead-on exposed that Bunny’s arm made no contact with Tay’s face at all. AEW really needs to think harder about how they shoot things.
Tay was winning until Penelope Ford came out to cause a distraction, allowing The Blade to pass The Bunny brass knuckles, which she hit Tay with to knock her out and get the win.

MARK HENRY’S SPLIT-SCREEN INTERVIEW WITH THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE MAIN EVENT- fine

FRANKIE KAZARIAN & CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. BRANDON CUTLER & KENNY OMEGA (w/Don Callis & Michael Nakazawa)- 6/10
I laughed my ass of at Jericho asking “how many of his (Omega’s) idiot friends did he get hired so he can use them as stooges.”
Stuff happened. In a total WWE finish, Omega abandoned his partner. This match didn’t do anything to build the PPV up for me. Also, why weren’t the rest of the Elite at ringside? A group seems to always travel in a pack, it’s kind of jarring when most of the pack suddenly isn’t there.

A passable episode of Dynamite.
