BRM Reviews the 10/21/2021 NXT UK

XIA BROOKSIDE vs. ALEAH JAMES- 4.5/10
They did an in-set promo for James where she talked too softly for me to understand what she was saying. The match was okay for the time it got. James won by roll-up, which I wasn’t expecting, but is definitely the most interesting possible result.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- good
James offered a handshake, but Xia slapped her hand away. Xia was very upset and frustrated. The fans were very into James, and we spent some time watching her soak them up.

EARLER THIS WEEK, MEIKO SATOMURA IS INTERVIEWED IN THE PC- fine
A perfectly fine promo to build up her title defense against Jinny.

KENNY WILLIAMS VIDEO PACKAGE/PROMO- good
He says if we thought he was bad before, we’ll be shocked to see how low he is willing to go now that he has extra motivation.

DAVE MASTIFF & JACK STARZ vs. SYMBIOSIS (w/Eddie Dennis)-5.5/10
Pretty Deadly were on commentary for this match. One of them insisted that he had seen Primate “eat raw chicken while on the toilet,” at which point Andy Sheppard asked “why are you watching him on the toilet,” which was met with “shut up, Andy!” WONDERFUL!
They did stuff. Eddie Dennis attacked Starz with a chair for the DQ. Ashton Smith & Oliver Carter came out to make the save.

AMALE VIDEO PACKAGE- fine

EARLIER THIS WEEK, GALLUS MADE A NUISANCE OF THEMSELVES AT THE UK PC- First they interrupted Charlie Dempsey’s interview. They left Dempsey alone, and within five seconds they managed to get into a brawl with Teoman and Rohan Raja.

NOAM DAR’S SUPERNOVA SESSIONS WITH SPECIAL GUEST TYLER BATE- bad
Trent Seven also showed up, which Dar and Samuels did not like. Dar did the standard heel stuff, offering Bate a chance to just forfeit the championship instead of subjecting himself to the humiliation and pain of physical defeat. He said had Bate had become complacent and blamed it on Seven. Dar took a cheap shot at Bate, then Samuels ushered him away before the babyfaces could get a shot in.

WHILE JORDAN DEVLIN IS STRETCHING FOR HIS MATCH, GALLUS SNEAK IN AND STEAL HIS ENTRANCE ROBE- This was fine, assuming that Gallus are supposed to be heels.

GALLUS IS BARRED FROM RINGSIDE: Joe Coffey vs. Jordan Devlin- 8/10
Coffey came out wearing Devlin’s robe. Devlin ran in and attacked him from behind. Good. Coffey deserves it. Lots of big stuff here. Devlin worked over the head and neck, but also Coffey’s previously-injured midsection. Without the rest of Gallus around to interfere, Devlin picked up the clean win.

A fine episode of NXT UK, although the quality of the main event definitely saved it from being more bad than good. Stories continue to move along, and the action continues to be quite great. I don’t understand why more people aren’t watching and talking about this product.
