BRM Reviews the Premiere Episode of NXT UK

Post by Big Red Machine » Oct 17th, '18, 17:03

OPENING VIDEO- wacky and overdramatic

MARK ANDREWS vs. JOE COFFEY (w/Mark Coffey)- 6.25/10
There are a lots of marks here.
They were nice enough to show us a video reminding us that they actually did an angle to build up to this back at the NXT UK Championship show, although their graphics said it happened “last June” instead of this June.
These two had a good big-man vs. small-man match with Coffey coming out on top. The Coffey Brothers attacked Mandrews after the match because they’re mean, but “Flash” Morgan Webster (who was also apparently beaten down by them after the match at NXT UK Championship, though I only remember seeing Travis Banks in the video) made the save.

EDDIE DENNIS VIDEO- very interesting, especially because (depending on how they take it, obviously) it could easily gel with their big PROGRESS feud that just blew off.

MOUSTACHE MOUNTAIN PROMO- fine
They started by cutting a big rah-rah promo, then said that Triple H told them that there would be NXT Tag Team Championships, so they threw their hats in the ring (metaphorically, not literally. There were in a ring, but weren’t wearing hats… although Seven should wear a hat with that awful haircut of his).

DAVE MASTIFF VIDEO PACKAGE- not bad, but too short to really be any good

SID SCALA vs. DAVE MASTIFF- squash

TONI STORM vs. NINA SAMUELS- 5/10

WWE UK CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Pete Dunne(c) vs. Noam Dar- 8.25/10
They did a great job with their various stories (Dar working on Dunne’s knee, and Dunne both working on Dar’s hand and trying to knock him out). Dunne’s viciousness is almost scary at times. This was an awesome main event, which was definitely something they badly needed.

This was a pretty good show, but at the same time, a lesser quality main event would have really hurt it because the show was kind of bland. The crowd was hot, but we weren’t really shown much of anything that was interesting, and there was only thing that built to next week. Hopefully things will begin to scale more next week.
