BRM Reviews the 9/4/2018 205 Live

Post by Big Red Machine » Sep 6th, '18, 07:36

They announce that Buddy Murphy is getting a title shot at Super Show-Down in his home town of Melbourne, Australia.

KAYLA BRAXTON INTERVIEWS TONY NESE & BUDDY MURPHY- Nese yelled at her for trying to interview him right before a match. Murphy took over and cut a good promo saying that when he challenged Cedric in Cedric’s home town he almost won the title, and therefore, with him having home field advantage this time, he should be able to win the title.

GRAN METALIK vs. TONY NESE- 7/10
This match was mandated to be one-on-one, so Lucha House Party came out with Metalik, but immediately went to the back. The match was great, but this feud just doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere. Just like Lucha House Party’s last feud. They really need some tag titles or something. Some sort of end goal for these guys.

MUSTAFA ALI & DRAKE MAVERICK BACKSTAGE- fine
Ali made a joke about Drake joining the Authors of Pain and was met with a rebuke of “what I do on Monday nights is my[ business.” He then scolded Ali for coming out to the ring last week when he wasn’t medically cleared and told Ali that he will not set foot in a 205 Live ring again until Drake says that he is cleared to do so.

NOAM DAR vs. BRYAN KELLY- 3/10
Dar won, but Kelly got a surprising amount of offense in. Lio Rush came out to do commentary.

DRAKE MAVERICK & CEDRIC ALEXANDER BACKSTAGE- He says he doesn’t usually do things this way (let the talent get what they want by demanding things) but he is doing it this week out of respect for Cedric… but he warns Cedric to not let his… whatever he’s having tonight with Gulak “get out of hand” and to “keep it professional.”

Murphy vs. Metalik has been announced for next week.

CEDRIC ALEXANDER CALLS OUT DREW GULAK- fine
Gulak didn’t come out. TJP came out instead and said he wanted to make Cedric to so he could earn a title shot. Cedric was fine with this. Drake Maverick came out said that even though he doesn’t like to let the talent run the show, he books this match for right now, so got…

TJP vs. CEDRIC ALEXANDER- 7.5/10
TJP worked over Cedric’s arm. Cedric won.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- decent angle
Drew Gulak came out and said that he accepted Cedric’s challenge from earlier. Then Jack Gallagher came out and jumped Cedric from behind. Gulak locked Cedric in the Gu-Lock until Drake Maverick and some referees came out and ordered him away. This feud feels like it should have been over after SummerSlam.

A decent show from 205 Live. Unfortunately, a lot of the major players on the show (Lucha House Party, Cedric, Gulak & Pals) are starting to feel stale in their roles. The division needs an injection of fresh talent for these guys to work with- especially Gulak, who has already had long feuds with every major babyface on the show (Lucha House Party, Ali, Cedric).
