BRM Reviews the 12/7/2016 NXT (important show)

DIY ARE INTERRUPTED BY THE AUTHORS OF PAIN- And the Authors of Pain get interrupted by The Revival (okay, so really it was Paul Ellering who was interrupted by The Revival, but you know what I mean). This segment was very good. Ellering’s Authors of Pain dialogue is really lame, but it totally works.

COREY GRAVES INTRODUCES THE NEW ADDITION TO THE COMMENTARY TEAM- “Showtime” Percy Watson. Yes. The guy from NXT Season 2 who was famous for talking so fast he was barely coherent. He seems a lot better now.

NO WAY JOSE & RICH SWANN vs. SANITY (Eric Young & Alexander Wolfe) (w/Nikki Cross)- 5.75/10
We are left with the impression that Sanity kicked Sawyer Fulton out of the group and maybe murdered him. Also, with EY and Nikki Cross being involved I’m not 100% convinced that they didn’t eat him. EY is a Canadian after all, and I’ve always been a mark for a good Wendigo story in my Wolverine comics.

The match was fine but all of that stuff with Damo got REALLY weird.

STUFF HAPPENS IN REGAL’S OFFICE-
1. The Revival get their rematch next month, with the winner facing The Authors of Pain at the pre-Rumble Takeover.
2. Tye Dillinger tries to live up to his word and be fired because he lost last week but instead Regal books him in an eight-man #1 contendership tournament that will start next week.
3. Regal picked up his brass knuckles and looked at them longingly.

SANITY IGNORES AN INTERVIEWER- Nikki Cross is distracted by the shiny NXT Women’s Title that Asuka just left sitting on a box. She and Asuka have a stare-down.

EMBER MOON vs. KIMBER LEE- 4.5/10

THE FIELD FOR THE #1 CONTENDERSHIP TOURNAMENT IS ANNOUNCED- It includes Roderick Strong vs. The f*cking Drifter. Hopefully Roddy murderizes him.

NXT TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura- 7.5/10

Joe is getting a rematch next week that will be in a cage for no good reason.

This show definitely moved stuff forward, so you should try to watch it so you know what’s happening for next week’s show. Until then, just dream of being one of the two lucky fans next week who will get to take home a piece of The Drifter’s spine after Roddy gets through with him.

Yeah, sure, now another quick title change leading to multiple title changes within the same feud before it's over.

Sure I will admit it builds surprise because sometimes you just don't know any more, but yeah.

The idea here was to get the big pop from Nakamura winning the belt in Japan. I wouldn't have done it if I were them as I think it cheapens the title.
