BRM Reviews the 10/19/2016 NXT

DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC FIRST-ROUND MATCH: Tony Nese & Drew Gulak vs. Rich Swann & No Way Jose- 6.5/10
Nese & Gulak cut an inset promo that was not very good. It just shows that- especially with Gulak, WWE doesn’t understand his character, so they give him a generic WWE personality and it’s terrible. The match was fun, as you would expect. That stuff Swann and Gulak did in the beginning was nuts. Swann and Jose cut a promo after the match. I know it’s not the best thing for Swann in the long term, but I never want this duo to break up.

TYE DILLENGER INTERIVIEW- good.
We’re getting Roode vs. Dillinger at TakeOver: Toronto.

AUSTIN ARIES PROMO- awesome promo on Itami.
Also, they built up the mystery of who his partner would be. He did end his promo by saying “in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, only the greatest and the strongest survive.” So yeah. So much for that mystery.

BOBBY ROODE vs. SEAN MALUTA- virtually a squash

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- very good.
Roode cut a great promo. Then Dillinger came out to brawl and Dillinger got the best of him.

LIV MORGAN INTERVIEW- she got jumped from behind by the mean Australians. They dragged her out onto the stage and kicked her ass. Then they cut a promo. They want a shot at Asuka. The promo was okay until they decided to end it by speaking in unison.

TUCKER KNIGHT & OTIS DOZOVIC PROMO- they’re big fat guys who used food metaphors, but they played it completely straight so it was funny.

DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC FIRST-ROUND MATCH: Tucker Knight & Otis Dozovic vs. Austin Aries & RODERICK F*CKING STRONG- 6/10

ANDRADE “CIEN” ALMAS PROMO- GREAT!
He spoke through Andrea DeMarco as a translator, but the words were good and he was able to still get the emotion across in his Spanish even to non-speakers like myself.

NIKKI CROSS (w/Sanity) vs. DANIELLE KAMELA- great squash.
The members of Sanity are doing a very good job with their offense and mannerisms to get themselves across as different and dangerous. Cross went after Kamela after the match, and just like last week, Eric Young pulled her off. Unlike last week, she responded by forearming EY in the face and going back after the jobber. Alexander Wolfe pulled her off this time and the rest of Sanity restrained her. Meanwhile, the referee reversed the decision and awarded the match to Kamela via DQ.

CLOSING SEGMENT- meh.
Nakamura cut a promo but got interrupted by Patrick. Nakamura kicked his ass with zero effort. Also, Joe came out.

A simple but exciting show from NXT. There’s a lot of very interesting stuff brewing.
