BRM Reviews the 5/15/2014 NXT

THE ASCENSION vs. BUDDY MURPHY & ELIAS SAMPSON- DUD!
The fans have apparently found something to chant during Ascension matches, so at least they are keeping themselves entertained.
All Ascension squashes get a DUD on principle. William Regal is also apparently fed up with this, as he expressed his desire to see them facing someone "credible." One of the other announcers responded by bringing up the fact that the Ascension beat Too Cool at ArRival. To this I will respond by pointing out that Scottie and Sexay are both over forty years old and have not teamed regularly in thirteen years.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- Okay
Apparently the Ascension are also fed up with only wrestling squashes. El Local and Kalisto come out and offer themselves as challengers.

SAMI ZAYN PROMO- good. He wants the NXT Title, so he hypes up the main event.

NXT WOMEN'S TITLE TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINAL MATCH: Alexa Bliss! vs. Charlotte (w/Sasha Banks)- no rating, good segment, but the ending made BRM very sad.
Alexa's outfit is less porn-y more sparkly than it was two weeks ago. She is still REALLY, REALLY hot.
The match was pretty much an extended squash, with Bliss barely getting in any offense at all. She did get to show off her ability to do a 450, though. Charlotte pretty much dominated, and the announcers spent the whole time building up the possibility of Charlotte vs. Sasha in the finals. This seems to be where they are going, and I think it is a big mistake simply because neither of these women should be a babyface. They are both so good at what they are doing right now, why would you have them change anything?
Instead, I think they should have booked it so that Charlotte was facing Nattie in the semifinals (Charlotte wins via heel cheating) and Bliss beats Sasha by roll-up (maybe do a spot where Charlotte tries to interfere but Nattie comes out and stops her). This will put Alexa over even more as a babyface underdog and get more heat on Charlotte, who would cheat to beat Bliss in the finals and then have a run with the belt, with Nattie and Bliss both set up immediately as challengers. Then, if they really want to make someone from BFF a babyface, they can do it when Summer Rae comes back so that you still have a good top heel and you have Bliss still around as a good top babyface.

TYLER BREEZE PROMO- He filmed it himself with his phone in a "selfie" angle. AWESOME!
He claims that to be a champion, you need to be good-looking, and that it is a proven scientific fact that Canadians do not have the DNA to be good looking. I'm surprised that Breeze's extremely Canadian trainer, Lance Storm, did not educate him on certain important pieces of wrestling history so I will do that now:

Um... where was I again?

Oh yeah. Tyler Breeze's promo. It was very good.

MOJO RAWLEY vs. AIDEN ENGLISH- 1.75/10

TYSON KIDD PROMO- okay

COLIN CASSADAY vs.ANGELO DAWKINS- extended squash.
The real point of this was so CJ Parker could walk through the crowd with a sign. It bored me.

JBL & BO BACKSTAGE- good
Bo says he has letters from fans all over the world (and it's only a handful of letters), but he warns JBL that if he isn't added into tonight's main event #1 contendership match, letters like these will come pouring into his office. JBL suggests that Bo go give those letters to CJ Parker so that he can recycle them. He says that he likes Bo's persistence, but he can't give him something that he hasn't earned, so he will make a deal with BO. If Bo beats his next opponent, he will get a title shot... but if Bo loses, he must leave NXT for good. The opponent will be Big E.

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH FOR AN NXT TITLE MATCH AT TAKEOVER: Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze vs. Tyson Kidd- 7/10
Great for an eleven minute match. It should have gotten more time than this, though.

Yet another episode of NXT that really suffered from trying to stuff too much stuff onto the show, thus cutting down the time they could dedicate to important matches.
