BRM Reviews the 11/26/2020 NXT UK (Heritage Cup Finals!)

NXT CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Jordan Devlin(c) vs. Amir Jordan- 6/10
Devlin won with a Cloverleaf and left the hold in longer than necessary.

SAXTON HUXLEY INTERRUPTS A RAMPAGE BROWN INTERVIEW IN THE GYM- fine
Huxley kept repeating Brown’s name over and over. Brown looked at him like the weirdo he is. I guess this was effective, but at this point Huxley feels like a complete and total joke to me. Between the fact that he has been booked like a jobber to the stars for his entire NXT UK tenure and this new crazy mountain man but without the mountain gimmick, he just isn’t someone I can take seriously as a threat to most of the roster.

FOOTAGE FROM EARLIER THIS WEEK OF MARK ANDREWS & “FLASH” MORGAN WEBSTER JUMPING EDDIE DENNIS & THE HUNT WHEN THEY ARRIVE AT THE PC- good
They were quickly pulled apart but others in the area, but this was a good little brawl that did a great job of making this feud feel wild and out of control.

ISLA DAWN vs. JINNY- 4/10
This was good for what it was. They gave Isla enough to keep her credible, but Jinny looked dominant for most of the match, as she should.

ALEXANDER WOLFE INTERRUPTS AN INTERVIEW WITH SID SCALA- good
Wolfe wants a match against Joe Coffey (as Coffey had challenged him to last week), but Wolfe wants Gallus barred from ringside. Scala says he’s fine with that, but Imperium will be barred from ringside as well. Wolfe was hesitant, but eventually agreed.
After a commercial break, we learned that the above match will take place next week. Also next week, we’ll be getting The Hunt vs. Andrews & Webster. Once again, I must compliment NXT UK for doing such a great job juggling their stories so that every week they have at least one that is at point where I am very excited to see a match.

HERITAGE CUP TOURNAMENT FINALS: A-Kid vs. Trent Seven- 8.75/10
This was simply a grinding, epic struggle for a prestigious prize, and the wrestlers did an absolutely tremendous job of selling just how exhausted they were. Throw in some great nearfalls and you’ve got a very worthy tournament finals. That’s two weeks in a row with fantastic main events for NXT UK.

Another awesome episode of NXT UK. There is probably some recency bias at work here, but during this show I began asking myself why I hadn’t previous been considering the NXT UK booking team for Booker of the Year.
