BRM Reviews wXw We Love Wrestling #23

wXw We Love Wrestling #23 (10/30/2021)- Gotha, Germany
(Again, for these I’m going by the broadcast date when possible rather than the date of the taping)

FAST TIME MOODO vs. NORMAN HARRAS- 6.5/10
There was some unwelcome silliness early on with Norman insisting that kicks should be illegal. Once they got past that, this was decent. Moodo won clean.

DAN INTERVIEWS IVA KOLASKY- decent
Her English vocabulary and pronunciation are good, and now she’s learning to get the emotion across as well.

TEAM wXw WRESTLING ACADEMY (Anil Marik & “The Avalanche” Robert Dreissker) vs. GULYAS JR. & ZERITUS- 6.75/10
The babyfaces won in fifteen minutes. Zeritus doesn’t do anything for me. They continued the little story of Gulyas Jr. disrespecting the veteran Avalanche in various little ways.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- fine
Vincent Heisenberg, Baby Allison, and Maggot came out and attacked Team wXw Wrestling Academy from behind. They beat Avalanche down until the Arrows of Hungary came out and made the save. Baby Allison and Maggot bailed quickly and just looked on as Heisenberg tried to fight two on one. The Arrows of Hungary grabbed a mic and once again challenged Heisenberg and Maggot to a match. Once again, Heisenberg and Maggot did not accept.

DAN INTERVIEWS STEPHANIE MAZE- good

MATCH 2 IN A BEST OF 3 SERIES TO CROWN A NEW wXw WOMEN’S CHAMPION: Iva Kolasky(1) vs. Stephanie Maze- 2/10
Maze’s ear was slapped very hard by Baby Allison at the previous show (which aired two days ago and was taped just the night before this. They’ve been very confusing with how we’re supposed to think about the timeline). Kolasky hit her with a hard slap there, and she developed equilibrium problems. Kolasky won with the moonsault in what was a pretty sloppy match. This feels like a “fake” win for Kolasky, which makes me wonder why they bothered with a best of three series instead of giving each woman one more win and just doing one match at True Colors 2021 to determine the new champion.
DAN INTERVIEWS IVA KOLASKY- meh
Standard babyface stuff. She’s happy to be here, she loves the crowd, and she’s certain she’ll win the title.

DAN INTERVIEWS MICHAEL KNIGHT- fine generic babyface stuff

It was announced that Francis Kaspin just went ahead and booked the Arrows of Hungary vs. Vincent Heisenberg and Maggot for later tonight.

wXw SHOTGUN TITLE MATCH: Michael Knight vs. Peter Tihanyi- 6.5/10
Knight won a solid match cleanly.

THE ARROWS OF HUNGARY vs. VINCENT HEISENBERG & MAGGOT (w/Baby Allison)- 7/10
An exciting match that ended by DQ when the babyfaces were in total control, so Baby Allison jumped into the ring and hit them both in the nuts.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- good
Heisenberg starts to beat down the Arrows until Anil Marik ran out, followed by Avalanche. Anil knocked Heisenberg off balance with a Codebreaker, and Avalanche then grabbed the limbering giant and gave him a big bodyslam.

MARIUS AL-ANI VS. AXEL TISCHER VIDEO PACKAGE- GREAT!
Axel is the returning hometown hero, Marius is the guy on an unstoppable streak and is six years more experienced than when Tischer last wrestled him, and they’re going to meet for the wXw Unified World Wrestling Title.

AXEL TISCHER vs. DENNIS “CASH” DULLNIG- 6/10
This was nowhere near good enough for twenty minutes (and they wasted about three minutes in the middle of this match was stupid gaga), and Dullnig, though he has some talent, has been portrayed as too much of a goofball and not at a high enough level to where he should be going this long against a top name.
Tischer won clean, and a cut a nice babyface promo after the match.

THE ARROWS OF HUNGARY STORM AROUND BACKSTAGE LOOKING FOR MAGGOT, ALLISON, AND HEISENBERG- bad
They eventually find them in a room full of wrestlers. Icarus berates them for their actions earlier, calling them an illustration of exactly what he means when he says that they don’t have the right attitude or the passion for wrestling and have no respect. Because of this, he says he’ll give them a title shot. Really? I don’t care if he’s angry. It’s still dumb.

This was a meh show from wXw. It felt like a show full of filler because they realized they needed an extra show to get the tag title angle to where they wanted it.
