wXw Inner Circle 10 (9/24/2021)- Oberhausen, Germany

MICHAEL KNIGHT vs. DENNIS “CASH” DULLNIG- 6.5/10
Knight wins clean. No answers about Hektor Invictus’ whereabouts during his layoff were given.

AVALANCHE’S INTERVIEW EARLIER TODAY IS INTERRUPTED BY PEOPLE TRYING TO ENTER THE BUILDING- fine
This show is taking place at the wXw Wrestling Academy, and Avalanche’s office is apparently right by the door. The first person was Norman Harras, who seems to have some PTSD from the Empty Arena match he and Avalanche had here last year. Avalanche let him in and showed that he didn’t hold a grudge. This was necessary to do in order to establish that Avalanche is not the kind of guy who holds grudges, so that when Vincent Heisenberg showed up and Avalanche refused to let him in and ordered him to change in the car, it gets over how despicable Avalanche finds Heisenberg’s recent actions (attacking various trainees, including costing Avalanche and Anil Marik the tag titles by tossing Anil into the ringpost at the 20th Anniversary Show.

LEVANIEL PROMO- good
He says he will win the Catch Grand Prix to show everyone that he isn’t just a sideshow comedy act, and his winning ways will start tonight.

NORMAN HARRAS vs. LEVANIEL- 7/10
A good dirty win for Norman here. After the six months or so he has had, it’s important that Norman feel like he is back in his stride. I also liked how the referee was suspicious that Norman didn’t win cleanly, but knew he couldn’t call what he couldn’t see. It creates the sense that one of these days, Norman is going to get caught trying to cheat and it’s going to cost him.

DAN INTERVIEWS NORMAN HARRAS- good
Norman was a good entitled heel, and sees it as his destiny to be the next Shotgun Champion. I’d still like an explanation of why the belt was vacated, though.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TEAM wXw WRESTLING ACADEMY- good
This was some good framing for this match. Avalanche justified his decision to bar Heisenberg from the locker room in the Academy earlier, and in addition to the usual “babyface out for revenge” stuff, Anil reminded us that his match against Heisenberg is a rivalry between two recent wXw Wrestling Academy trainees, so it is fitting that they settle their issues in the ring at the Academy.

VINCENT HEISENBERG vs. ANIL MARIK- 5.75/10
Anil got to come in through the entrance, but Heisenberg had to enter through the side door like the outsider he has become. Avalanche came out with Anil, but Anil asked him to go to the back because Heisenberg’s allies were not at ringside.
This match was excellent for the time it got. It was essentially six minutes of Marik knowing he has to play hit and run because once Heisenberg gets his big mitts on him, it’s over. Heisenberg won clean.

DAN INTERVIEWS VINCENT HEISENBERG- fine
Heisenberg insisted that this was the end of Marik. Dan asked him where Maggot and Baby Allison were. Heisenberg said that Dan should mind his own business.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS ENDER KARA- very good
Ender Kara is 0-2 against The Rotation. He says is going to “assassinate” The Rotation because he can’t bear the thought of going 0-3 against him.

THE ROTATION vs. ENDER KARA- 8/10
This was two young guys being told it was finally their turn to go out there and blow everyone away, and boy did they. This was two evenly-matched wrestlers with similar styles (Kara is martial arts primary and high-flying secondary, while The Rotation is the reverse) pulling out every trick they had (within the rules) in order to try to beat the other. Combine that with Ender Kara’s desperation to beat The Rotation, and I was into every single thing they did, hoping that each move Ender Kara hit would be the one that got him that big win and hoping that he’d kick out of every pinfall. In the end, The Rotation got the win with an inside cradle, with Ender Kara kicking out at 3.0001. Rotation wanted a handshake after the match. Kara was very conflicted, but eventually gave him the handshake… and I was shocked when he didn’t turn it into a kick to the head. This Ender Kara is something special. His facial expressions are amazing.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS AKIRA FRANCESCO- fine
He builds up his main event against Avalanche.

AVALANCHE ADDRESSES THE CROWD- This was fine framing of the next match for the crowd. Hendrick is the latest graduate of the wXw Wrestling Academy and is making his debut tonight. Santos kept trying to get to tapings during the pandemic but kept getting stopped at the airport due to “constantly changing regulations.” The crowd gave both men a big hand.

TIBO HENDRICK vs. GOLDENBOY SANTOS- 4.25/10
Santos won clean in six and a half minutes. Hendrick looked fine.

DAN INTERVIEWS GOLDENBOY SANTOS- meh
He says he is “here to stay.”

CARA NOIR VS. MARIUS AL-ANI VIDEO PACKAGE- good build for the next world title match

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS AVALANCHE- fine
Avalanche has a tendency to ramble, but the way he does it feels natural (like he doesn’t know what question he’s going to be asked in advance) and it has this sort of “unsure of exactly what to say” everyman feel to it.

AKIRA FRANCESCO vs. “THE AVALANCHE” ROBERT DREISSKER- 7.25/10
This was a fine showcase for Francesco for those of us who haven’t seen him before, but having him lose here was baffling to me. It’s not like Avalanche is in a spot where he can’t afford a loss.

This was a very fun show from wXw. Ender Kara vs. The Rotation is worth going out of your way to see.
