wXw Femme Fatales 2018 (10/6/2018)- Oberhausen, Germany

They have a female ring announcer for the fame show. Whatever.

FEMME FATALES 2018 FIRST ROUND MATCH: Meiko Satomura vs. Wesna- 6.25/10

FEMME FATALES 2018 FIRST ROUND MATCH: Aubrey Bride vs. Millie McKenzie- 5/10
Suplex Millie suplexed Aubrey to death.

FEMME FATALES 2018 FIRST ROUND MATCH: Killer Kelly vs. Kris Wolf- 4.75/10
That wolf head his a foreign object and Wolf should have been disqualified for hitting Kelly with it. Do your job, referee!

FEMME FATALES 2018 FIRST ROUND MATCH: LuFisto vs. Toni Storm- 6.5/10
They had a great match was interrupted when Melanie Gray came out to distract Toni, allowing LuFisto to recover, hit a Burning Hammer, and get the win.

FEMME FATALES 2018 SEMIFINAL MATCH: Meiko Satomura vs. Millie McKenzie- 4.25/10
This was disappointing in that the story was pretty much entirely “Millie tries to do something but Meiko turns it into an STF over and over. The action was fine, but the story made it feel frustratingly one-sided.

FEMME FATALES 2018 SEMIFINAL MATCH: Killer Kelly vs. LuFisto- 4/10
LuFisto jumped Killer Kelly form behind while Kelly was doing her entrance pose on the turnbuckle, so now we know who the heel is. These two proceeded to have about as great of a brawl as you can have with no weapons in five minutes. The problem, of course, is that it only went five minutes. Kelly lost, which means that wXw has now had BOTH of their up-and-comers put over established veterans who are just in for this weekend. How does a LuFisto vs. Meiko Satomura Femme Fatales final help wXw?

wXw WOMEN’S TITLE MATCH: Melanie Gray(c) vs. “Session Moth” Martina- 4.5/10
They went less than seven minutes. Melanie worked over Martina’s back and won with a Sharpshooter.

FEMME FATALES 2018 FINALS: Meiko Satomura vs. LuFisto- 6.75/10
They brawled all over the place without being counted out. Then they brawled a lot in the ring, too. Basically this was eleven minutes of brawling. It was pretty great brawling, but it was pretty much just brawling, when I’d already seen a bunch of pure brawls already tonight.

This was a bad show from wXw. I already explained why I didn’t like the particular outcomes, but I thought the booking hurt this show in other ways as well. I thought it would have been much better to revert to the format they used in 2016 where it was just four opening round matches and then a four-way finals instead of doing a semifinal round and a two-woman final. If you take out the combined twenty-one minutes or so that the semis took up (and that includes entrances and exits) and give each opening round match another two minutes, six more to the women’s title match and six more to the tournament finals (actually, given the finish of Toni vs. LuFisto, keep that at eight minutes and give one more each to the two top matches) then the matches would have all gotten enough time to feel important and not rushed, even with the short run-time (1:35:14, and you can take five minutes off of that for the pointless opening “everyone come for the official picture” ceremony in the beginning). Instead, we got a bunch of rushed matches that didn’t feel like they meant much. wXw has an extremely talented women’s division, so seeing them get short-changed like this is very frustrating, and seeing the young, talented women who are regular parts of the division being used to put over ladies who are basically yesterday’s news was doubly frustrating. Hopefully next year’s tournament is better.
