NJPW Best of the Super Jr. 25, Day 5
May 24, 2018
Shiga, Japan

njpwworld didn't upload the prelim bouts:
Shota Umino & KUSHIDA defeated Yota Tsuji & Ryusuke Taguchi
Chase Owens & Marty Scurll defeated Tomoyuki Oka & Chris Sabin
El Desperado & Minoru Suzuki defeated SHO & YOSHI-HASHI
Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi defeated Toa Henare & Dragon Lee

Best of the Super Jr 25 Block A Match
Tiger Mask (4) vs BUSHI (0) - 6.5/10
BUSHI jumped Tiger during the entrances and worked over him for a while, he kept going for the mask. Tiger made a small comeback hurting BUSHI's arm, and from there on, Tiger started going for his stronger moves. There was a spot where both men nutted each other on the ropes. BUSHI kicked out of a Tiger Driver when Tiger Mask dodged an MX. Tiger hit a top rope Double Underhook Suplex and a Tiger Suplex for the win. Tiger Mask keeps winning, WTF!? Okay match, nothing to it.

Best of the Super Jr 25 Block A Match
ACH (2) vs Yoshinobu Kanemaru (0) - 7/10
And again, we got someone jumping during entrances. ACH sold his shoulder from the very start when he was trying to make a comeback and stupidly went for a cartwheel and fell on his head since he couldn't keep the weight on his arm. From here on, Kanemaru worked over ACH's shoulder.

ACH would make a huge comeback, tons of great looking offense without using is injured arm, tons of moves to keep Kanemaru off his feet, and it would all be in vain when he would miss a 450 splash, and Kanemaru would spray ACH with the Whisky Mist for a near fall and hit the Deep Impact for the win. This match went a lot longer than I think it should, but it was good overall.

Best of the Super Jr 25 Block A Match
"Bone Soldier" Taiji Ishimori (4) vs Flip Gordon (2) - 6.5/10
Mostly a back and forward match, but Ishimori did get a good offensive run where he hit all his signature maneuvers, and likewise, Gordon did get a comeback where he did the same. They were barely starting to hit the engines when an Bridging Okana Roll by Flip Gordon ACTUALLY WORKED! Good match, but it could had been soo much better.

Best of the Super Jr 25 Block A Match
YOH (2) vs The Aerial Assassin" Will Ospreay (2) - 9/10
Great athletic bout, back and forward action with YOH working Ospreay's neck, and Ospreay working, well, just kicking YOH a lot. Towards the end of the match, there was a really ugly botch in a superplex with YOH's foot slipping when he already had Ospreay coming up, but YOH muscled up and Ospreay's quick thinking saved it and it ended kinda playing into the match. After they started hitting each other with everything they got, Ospreay hit a Spanish Fly and an awesome set up for the Storm Breaker, which he hit for the win. This was argualy the only match worth checking out this show, but the athletic display makes it a definite you SHOULD REALLY check this out.

Post-match - Ospreay embraces CHAOS buddy YOH. Ospreay cut a promo saying that he is the best junior heavyweight in the world and that even though YOH and himself are friends, this is about showing who really is the best.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Not the best show and that is saying something since I only got the tournament matches, but overall it was an easy watch and the main event was great.
