Even from what I've read, they didn't quite get along the best because he was "used to being the boss' son", said Cornette lol.

Not shocked at all. That's what happens in territories like that (and Puerto Rico and Memphis are basically the exact same).

I'd have guessed higher for Christopher, honestly... but yeah, between him and King, they either held the title or were chasing it for 40 years...
I'll add Verne Gagne holding the (his) AWA belt only 10 times, but for a combined 13 years. He never did put it on his kid though...Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Aug 25th, '18, 18:34 Not shocked at all. Yeah, but at least Verne's title reigns were of something of a usual length. I think only a handful of Lawler's title reigns went longer than five months.Bob-O wrote: ↑Aug 25th, '18, 22:56 I'd have guessed higher for Christopher, honestly... but yeah, between him and King, they either held the title or were chasing it for 40 years...

Jeff is at 10 (6 NWA, 4 WCW). And I don't think anyone ever counted the Memphis belt as a world title.

He's won WWA twice, USWA 3 times, AAA twice as well.

Right, just supporting your point of champions in the territories. The "put the belt on somebody that isn't going to run off with it... like yourself..." thing.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Aug 25th, '18, 23:11 Yeah, but at least Verne's title reigns were of something of a usual length. lol Memphis didn't even count the Memphis belt as a world title! Lawler was "Southern Heavyweight Champion"Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Aug 26th, '18, 00:26 Jeff is at 10 (6 NWA, 4 WCW). And I don't think anyone ever counted the Memphis belt as a world title.
USWA/Memphis had WORLD Tag Team Champions, but their singles champion only reigned over the confederacy.
As far as WORLD titles go, Jerry has only held one. The AWA's during it's desperate search for relevancy.
