Wasn't he also the booker?

Also, if he were retiring he wouldn't have resigned as president, so does this mean he's going elsewhere (NOAH)?

he only resigned of the 'president' position (which he never wanted, but had to do), and instead he'll be booking and wrestling, while Fukuda takes care of the business side of things. If i'm not mistaken, I think Akiyama still owns AJPW. I think instead of replacing Aoki with someone else, he'll take over those tasks

Well, I guess if even half of the stories I’ve heard about him are true, I guess not. :P

2019 Twitter Orton is different...

No fucks were ever given, but he's gone from "What are you gonna do, fight me?" to "What are you gonna do, fire me?" and it's been a fun ride.

Dave Meltzer wrote:Tonight's show has evidently been a ton of headaches. There was more than one segment written that had to be changed today because talent involved were flagged by medical from doing anything physical. Many segments have been changed at the last minute, and not due to Vince changing his mind, but due to things medical wouldn't allow to happen.

Quite the landscape change there. The Smallman thing reminds me of CMJ stepping down from wXw last year.

If this turns into a rating war I'm gonna fucking scream. We don't need another era of wrestling negatively effected by minimal increases in a statistic with a laughably small, and easily exploitable, sample sizes.

I really don't think that could happen again. It's not the days of cable only, one or the other anymore. Just watch NXT on the network or Hulu whenever you want and DVR AEW, and watch both in one night if you so wish. No reason for a choice in this day and age.
When they come, they'll come at what you love.

I agree with Dozer. Rating still matter for ad-buys, but they're not an accurate gauge of how many people are watching the product. That doesn't mean they should be ignored if they go up or down, but in terms of a head-to-head battle, they don't matter because it's no longer a binary choice for the vast majority of people.

Not unlike ROH's MSG show, the Wembley show exposed Progress' issues to the world : relying too much on talent that are contracted elsewhere and can't use however they want (WALTER is still the champion and obviously won't job or even appear), and not really building up the next generation.

In general though, there are just too many promotions and not enough talent. I mean, PCW went from working with ROH to being completely irrelevant, and ICW isn't touring outside of Scotland anymore less than three years after a 6k show.

Dozer is right, but rating based panics have ruined many MANY wrestling shows. I just want everyone involved to stay the course and not make a kneejerk decision

I like this use of social media. Possibly sensing a little real-world frustration there tied into the storyline.

Wonderful!

Although... "Eric Bischoff's new assistant; the one with the peg leg?"

Zack Gowen return confirmed.
