A Bunch of WWE News

It appears that Nia Jax and Dean Ambrose will be facing off in at least one intergender match, with WWE advertising Jax vs. Ambrose in an "intergender special attraction match" for a house show in Jonesboro, Arkansas on Friday, February 22. Ambrose faced EC3 at last night’s Raw-brand event. Jax and Tamina were involved in an angle where they attacked Bayley, Natalya, and Dana Brooke.

Paige tweeted about the Jax vs. Ambrose advertisement: “Yessss an actual intergender match!! Couldn’t be happier for my girl @NiaJaxWWE killing it every damn day! You better werkkkk sis!”
Apollo Crews and his wife Linda welcomed the birth of their second child. The baby’s name is Kai Isaac.
PWInsider reported that WWE Studios is partnering with Netflix to develop films that will be “directed towards family audiences.”

After she used the phrase on this week’s Raw, Ronda Rousey’s website is selling “Ice + Advil B*tch" T-shirts. A portion of the proceeds are going to Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.

I don't know if WWE has the capacity to have an intergender match where the guy won't look like a bully or a wimp

I also expect Alvarez to start shitting on this as much as he buried LU all of season 2

Ditto.

If you as a company are squeamish with a man hitting a woman, then just don't do intergender stuff at all. It's not worth the media anger that will come down on you "family values" groups or "feminist" media watchdogs who are so obsessed with trying to get attention by criticizing you that they don't take the time to think about pro wrestling is for five seconds and realize that unless the woman is getting her ass kicked and unable to fight back you're actually putting on a product that SUPPORTS their general message (a morality play for the "family values" people, ignoring gender and instead focusing on kayfabe ability for the feminists).

And, to add yet another dimension to Cero's point, if you wind up going in the "dude is wimp" direction and yet think you're making the woman the babyface, you actually turn the woman into the bully for trying to fight someone who everyone knows isn't allowed to fight back.

And I expect Alvarez to be even harder on this than he was on LU. In his defense, he has been very straightforward with how he thinks intergender wrestling should be done: mainly focused on Lucha and suplexes so that you don't have the visual of a man flat-out punching a woman in the face. LU actually has/had people who could do that. WWE really doesn't.

UPDATE (from F4W/WON):
By Joseph Currier | @josephcurrier | Feb 10, 2019 1:43 pm

The Nia Jax vs. Dean Ambrose "intergender special attraction match" that had been advertised for a WWE house show later this month won't be happening.

Jax vs. Ambrose had been advertised via a commercial for Raw's house show in Jonesboro, Arkansas on Friday, February 22, but WWE has confirmed to Dave Meltzer that the match isn't happening.

Post Wrestling also reported that someone in WWE reached out to them stating that the ad was "outdated" and the house show match wouldn't be happening.

Ambrose has lost to EC3 at Raw's house shows this weekend. Jax and Tamina have taken part in angles where they've attacked Bayley, Natalya & Dana Brooke after six-woman tag matches where Bayley, Natalya & Brooke defeated Mickie James, Alicia Fox & Nikki Cross.

Jax was an entrant in last month's men's Royal Rumble match. She's been involved in segments with Ambrose on Raw over the past two weeks. On the post-Royal Rumble episode, she struck Ambrose and sent him out of the ring when his attention was turned away from her.

WWE confirmed on January 29 that Ambrose won't be renewing his contract when it expires in April.
