Despite Raw's numbers being down this week, Tuesday night's SmackDown saw its ratings go up 5.5 percent to an average of 2.264 million viewers. That equated to a much higher than usual 96 percent retention of the Raw audience, one of the highest numbers in history.
Part of the reason for the increase may have been the fact that CBS aired reruns during the 8-10 p.m. hours opposite SmackDown, resulting in a 50 percent decline in ratings for that network.
SmackDown finished ninth for the night in total viewers on cable but topped the 18-49 demo with a 0.81 rating. There was no major sports competition aside from a college basketball game on ESPN that did 1.59 million viewers.
Year-over-year, SmackDown was down over 15 percent from the same week in 2017, continuing the recent trend of double-digit declines.
