Following a night where Raw ratings dropped eight percent, SmackDown was down as well -- but not quite as much. The show averaged 2.35 million viewers on Tuesday night, down four percent from last week's post-SummerSlam show.
SmackDown finished a higher-than-usual fifth for the night in total cable viewers and, as usual, topped the 18-49 demo with a 0.75 rating. The season finale of Miz and Mrs., which aired after SmackDown on the USA Network, fell to sixth in the demo with a 0.42 rating and averaged 1.161 million viewers, down seven percent from last week.
SmackDown retained 83 percent of the Raw audience from Monday night. The episode was down four percent from the same week in 2017, which is much better than the show has been averaging of late.
The most heavily-publicized match on SmackDown was the Women's title main event with Charlotte Flair retaining against former champion Carmella. With ratings holding up better than Raw, it would indicate something of an interest in that matchup or the angle between Charlotte and Becky Lynch.
