Shane McMahon was rescued after the helicopter that he was traveling in had to make an emergency crash landing in the waters near Gilgo Beach in Long Island, New York this morning.

McMahon and the helicopter's pilot were safely helped to shore by emergency responders after the helicopter went into the water around 10:30 a.m. ET. It was equipped with floats and both McMahon and the pilot were wearing life jackets. Neither were injured in the landing.

The helicopter departed from Westchester County Airport earlier in the morning. A mayday call was sent out before the crash landing and a commercial flight alerted the Federal Aviation Administration to it.

Both McMahon and the pilot were interviewed by the FAA after the incident and spoke to media in New York.

McMahon was in Birmingham, Alabama for last night's SmackDown tapings and presumably would have been heading home after the show. He tweeted: "I'd like to thank the man upstairs for looking out this morning & thanks to pilot Mario, Suffolk County Marine Bureau & Babylon Coast Guard."
