BRM Reviews ROH Glory By Honor XI (awesome)

Post by Big Red Machine » Oct 13th, '12, 23:18

ROH Glory BY Honor XI (10/13/2012)- Toronto, ON

THE BRAVADO BROTHERS vs. CAPRICE COLEMAN & CEDRIC ALEXANDER- 5.5/10
Decent opener.

MIKE MONDO vs. “THE PRODIGY” MIKE BENNETT (w/Maria Kanellis)- 6/10
After watching the video package, I am pretty thoroughly convinced that Mondo should be the heel here. He is the one going around forcing himself on an unwilling woman. Bennett is just stepping up to defend his girl. Mondo constantly believing that Maria wanted to kiss him made him look either delusional or stupid (neither of which are the angle). The dive of off the frame of the entrance way was kind of cool, though.

BJ WHITMER & RHETT TITUS vs. WRESTLING’S GREATEST TAG TEAM (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin)- 6.25/10

JAY LETHAL PROMO- started off poorly but finished strong.

JAY LETHAL vs. DAVEY RICHARDS- 8.5/10
Awesome match, although Jay kicking out at one on the big kick didn’t feel significant at all.

PRE-MATCH SEGMENT WITH TRUTH AND RODDY- good. I loved Turth’s promo to Thomas at the end: “T-D, you are going to D-I-E at the hands of the G-O-R-E!”

TADARIUS THOMAS vs. RHINO (w/Truth Martini)- 2.5/10
Started off well (Rhino taping up in the middle of the match was a good touch), but then it went to hell. I just plain couldn’t buy the spot where Thomas blocked Rhino’s big punches with his head. Truth’s blatant interference not causing a DQ made no sense, and the finish looked extremely weak. I also didn’t like Rhino assaulting Truth and leaving the House of Truth. IMO, the first person to get their hands on Truth should have been Elgin (after he fully turns face, leaves the HOT and starts feuding with them). I also don’t like Truth losing everything he has (assuming he loses Elgin after tonight as well).

ROH TV TITLE MATCH: Adam Cole(c) vs. Eddie Edwards- 7.5/10

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Jimmy Jacobs & Steve Corino(c) vs. The Briscoe Brothers- 6.75/10
I loved the finish. Great heel stuff that keeps the Briscoes strong for another rematch.

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Kevin Steen(c) vs. Michael Elgin- 9/10
Some amazing nearfalls here, a very hot crowd, and just awesome stuff.

AFTERMATH- Strong attacks Elgin (eh), and then Paul Turner gives Nigel a mystery box that Nigel is apparently supposed to deliver to Steen. Steen opens the box, and inside… is an El Generico mask. This was kind of awkward, but Steen’s facials made it work.

Overall, an awesome show from ROH, with no technical issues at all!

as predicted by the scriptures, Generico is the only one to stop Steen. But it's too freaking early for that if you ask me

Definitely agree. I will be VERY disappointed if Steen drops the belt at Final Battle. There is SO MUCH mileage they could get out of him. Generico shouldn't show up until Steen has been through the entire roster at least once.

exactly what i'm thinking, I even expect Generico to lose the first rounds due to SCUM, and eventually win in a cage match or a 1v1 ladder war.

That still may happen (although I can't see them doing a screwy finish in the World Title match at Final Battle. People would flip the wrong kind of sh*t), but it is way too early.

well, if everything goes correctly, we get Lethal vs Steen for Final Battle in a fight without honor or something, meanwhile we only get teases of Generico who would return at the end of FB
