BRM Reviews the 2/18/2017 ROH (great)

BULL JAMES vs. SILAS YOUNG (w/Beer City Bruiser)- 3.75/10
It’s been a month and a half since they did the angle to set this match up. Could they not have gotten around to airing it earlier in the cycle? It’s not like anything time-sensitive has happened, anyway. Just when I thought there was nothing Bull could do to make me want to see him less than I do, he went out and dyed his beard to look annoying.
Silas Young bumps around for Bull James and carries him to a watchable match. I am still baffled as to why anyone thinks that Bull James should be in ROH.

JAY BRISCOE PROMO- good

BOBBY FISH PROMO- decent build to Manhattan Mayhem IV

HANDICAP MATCH: Colt Cabana vs. The Boys (w/Dalton Castle)- no rating, meh segment.
Cabana cuts a promo before the match saying that he will destroy the Boys because they screwed him out of his match in the Decade of Excellence Tournament. That’s actually quite the valid point. Kevin Kelly asked Dalton Castle if this was done on his orders, and Dalton gave a confusing non-answer. That was extremely annoying.
Colt and Dalton both played their roles well here, but I think it dragged on for a bit too long.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS PROMO- awesome.

TOP PROSPECT TOURNAMENT VIDEO PACKAGE- good, although them forgetting Michael Bennett in 2011 was kind of odd.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & JAY BRISCOE SECOND PROMO- totally pointless. They said basically nothing and they both already cut much better promos to hype this match up tonight.

DECADE OF EXCELLENCE TOURNAMENT FINALS: Christopher Daniels vs. Jay Briscoe- 8/10
Mark Briscoe and Frankie Kazarian were on commentary for this match. This was by far the best overall ROH at a TV taping in quite a while, in terms of importance, presentation, announcing- everything.

A great episode of ROH. It’s mostly on the strength of the main event, but at no point during the show did I ever feel like throwing the remote at the TV, which is a big improvement for ROH these days.
