BRM Reviews PWG Guitarmageddon

PWG Guitarmageddon (6/11/2005)- Los Angeles, CA

ARROGANCE DISSES THE CROWD- okay

PWG TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost)(c) vs. Hook Bomberry & Top Gun Talwar- 5.75/10

DAVEY RICHARDS vs. HUMAN TORNADO vs. PUMA- 6.25/10
The DVD box said this was an elimination match, but it wasn’t. This annoyed me. The match itself was okay, until the finish. Davey pulled Puma’s mask off, but they just kept going. It wasn’t significant at all.

ALEX SHELLEY vs. JOEY RYAN- 7.5/10
Great matc, with a finish that pissed me off for all of the right reasons.

LOS LUCHAS vs. AERIAL XPRESS (w/Dino Winwood)- 6/10

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- not so good. Aerial Xpress just won their tag team title shot (or at least that is the impression that I got from Excalibur’s commentary). Then Arrogance show up and say that they won’t take the match and call out SoCal Val (who is, I think, the Commissioner at this point… although it is really hard to take her seriously when she dresses like that. She should have borrowed some of Lacey’s suits from her “businesswoman” character… seriously, Val looks more like a sexy secretary than she does anyone who is in charge of anything) and demand that she tell Aerial Xpress that they won’t be getting their title shot. Val shuts Arrogance down… so then Arrogance demand that Aerial Xpress put their masks on the line. And the babyfaces accept. Why put your mask on the line when you don't have to? Not only that, but they put their careers on the line, instead. Scorpio Sky cuts a GREAT promo about the meaning of a wrestler’s mask, and why they would be willing to put their careers on the line instead of their masks, but it doesn’t answer why they need to put anything on the line at all.

NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE AND PWG TITLE MATCH: AJ Styles(c)(c) vs. James Gibson- 8/10
Could you possibly expect anything less from these two?

JOEY RYAN & MR. EXCITEMENT SEGMENT- okay

TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH: Christopher Daniels(c) vs. El Generico- 6.5/10

KEVIN STEEN & EXCALIBUR PROMOS- great

SUPER DRAGON & DISCO MACHINE vs. KEVIN STEEN & EXCALIBUR- 7.5/10
I loved the finish, and I loved the way the announcer’s dealt with it on commentary.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- good, but Steen and Excalibur’s racial slurs bothered me. You are heels. We know that. You just beat the crap out of Super Dragon with a chair. You don’t need to direct racial slurs at Generico and Tornado.

Overall, a very good show from PWG that build well towards the big anniversary weekend of shows next month.
