NWA POWERRR
October 8th, 2019
Atlanta, GA

Before the show starts, we have this countdown and the song playing is pretty much a religious Hallelujah song. If this becomes a religious thing, don't expect me to keep on watching.

Opening video - Cool, it was a quick rundown of the faces of NWA, a lot of Nick Aldis, Tim Storm, Eli Drake, James Storm, The Wild Cards, and Jocephus. Cabana and AK-47 were shown too, but didn't get much focus.

Joe Galli & Jim Cornette are on commentary.

Nick Aldis Interview - Dave Marquez in the interview table welcomes the NWA Worlds Champion, Nick Aldis, along with Kamille. Aldis said that it's hard to stay hungry as he comes close to a full year as champion. He said he has brought back the NWA from a joke to a headline. He put over each of the other champions in the promotion, as well as the talent chasing those titles. Aldis addressed Tim Storm telling him that he will not lose to him. Good promo by Aldis, he looks like a champion.

The Dawsons vs Sal Rinauro & Billy Buck - Squash.
Squash match, The Dawsons were pulling their own pins even before Rinauro could make his first tag. Must have lasted about two minutes total.

Post-match - Marquez interviewed The Dawsons. They said that this was just a glimpse of what they're about and that they own this place now. They called themselves bullies and that no one will stop them.

Austin Idol Commercial - It was indeed Idol doing a commercial for his wrestling school. Like legit.

Eli Drake Interview - Joe Galli interviewed Drake. He said that there is something different from the NWA. He said the business is full of children, but the NWA is full of men that want to be champions. He said he will chase all the championships in the promotion.

Eli Drake vs Caleb Konley - 7/10
Konley was sold as the young up and comer underdog, while Eli is the veteran, so the story was about how Konley had all the tools, but it was a matter of a single misstep for Drake to win. Konley looked good, and made Drake look great as a future contender. Drake won with the Gravy Train.

Aldis vs Storm Video Package - Awesome, it brought us up to speed on the stipulations going into tonight's NWA Worlds title match. If Storm loses, he can't challenge again for the NWA Championship.

Jocephus storms the stage - He is out there, all over Galli and Cornette, calling out Jim Storm. After a while, a Storm came out, but it was James Storm. The Cowboy told Jocephus he is the only Storm he needs to be concerned with. Storm kinda buried Jocephus with his promo, kinda undervaluing Jocephus as a wrestler. Eventually Jocephus got tired and attacked Storm. They got into a pull apart and honestly, Storm came off as a dick. I hope Jocephus kicks his ass.

Non-title Match
NWA Tag Team Champions The Wild Card vs Danny White & Mims - Squash
Wild Card are Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs. Quick job, the opponents didn't even get a hope spot. Wild Card won with a Pop-Up Powerbomb by Latimer into a Deadlift German by Issacs. Total dominance, perfect introduction of the team.

The Wild Card Interview - Wild Card walked to the interview box. They pretty much sold themselves as the top until Eddie Kingston interrupted them. Kingston made fun of them calling them Bram and Roycebud, he said those titles look great on them, but they don't speak for the outlawz of the world. Latimer and Kingston squared off when Homicide came out to back up Eddie, and as they're about to go to blows, out from the back, James Storm and Jocephus interrupt a they brawl back into the stage, being chased by officials and agent Crimson, trying to break the fight up.

They chase each other around the arena for a bit and start brawling up to the crowd. Storm gets in the ring and now we have

James Storm vs Jocephus - No Rating, ok segment
It was a quick finish when Jocephus rushed Storm, and the Cowboy caught him straight to the jaw with a Last Call, so it was more of a conclusion to the brawl.

Tim Storm Vignette - This was a compilation of a lot of footage of Storm's reign, while they were introducing him at first. They talk about him being a teacher and a family guy and all. It also went into the history of when Aldis defeated him for the NWA title.

Tim Storm Interview - He said that his love for the NWA Championship is what defines him as a professional wrestler. He said that he has one shot, and quoting the philosopher Eminem, he said that he'll do everything before allowing the championship to slip through his fingers. Awesome promo, Storm is such a great old school wrestler.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Match
Nick Aldis (C) w/Kamille vs Tim Storm - 8/10
Storm has the power and desperation advantage, and thus dominates early on until the match went outside and Aldis managed to smash Storm on to the ring post. From there on, Aldis worked the back, hitting a top rope elbow later on and locking in the King's Lynn Cloverleaf. Storm had several comebacks, but he couldn't keep Aldis down for the pin, not even when he hit a top rope crossbody or the Perfect Storm that followed a desperation low blow behind the ref's back. Storm is a desperate man!

There was a kinda funny looking spot when both men fought at the top rope and then just stumble down to the floor in the safest way. Finish followed when Aldis accidentally took out Kamille (which didn't even mattered at the end), and when Storm went for the finish, Aldis reversed into a Small Package and pinned Storm.

This was an excellent main event. Storm left the ring with tears in his eyes.

Post-match - Aldis cut his winner's promo at the podium. Aldis put Storm over huge. Galli asked Kamille about the clothesline she took, but Aldis quickly interrupted him and said she's fine. Galli kept trying to get Kamille's opinion, but Aldis shut him down. Dissension is coming, Kamille is gonna go babyface on Aldis, mark my words. Aldis and Kamille walked away.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
This was a fun one hour show, it went by fast, but it was also really packed with stuff. The style of the show feels super old school, it's weird seeing a show where everything takes place in the same place, like being able to see Marquez watching the match. I enjoyed the roster, but it'll be interesting to see where they all go and if they can keep the flavor consistent.
