MLW Fusion EP 5: Double Jeopardy
May 18, 2018
Orlando, FL

Rich Bocchini and Tony Schiavone intro the show explaining that Pentagon and Salina de la Renta are being punished for the attack on Strickland, putting Pentagon's shot against Fenix tonight.

Kotto Brazil vs Trey Miguel - 6.5/10
Good back and forward flippy match. Kotto has been in MLW before, so he had a better reaction from the fans and commentary sold it as a bigger deal for him if he were to lose. They did sell Trey as one of the best new guys in the scene. Trey Miguel won with a Meteora. There was a lot of spots that seemed badly communicated, mostly because of Kotto.

Salina de la Renta Interview - Rich Bocchini was invited to de la Renta's house in Dorado, PR. She talks about Promociones Dorado, how she is the woman in charge of bringing all the best talent from Latinamerica to the US. At the end, Rich annoyed Salina, so she pushed him to one of the many pools.

Salina de la Renta Interview II - This time it's done from the MLW backstage. She announces that she has officially signed Pentagon Jr AND Rey Fenix, so regardless who wins tonight, Promociones Dorado goes for the championship.

"Filthy" Tom Lawlor & Simon Gotch Promo - They say they have no issues with Jimmy Havoc, but he just got in the way.

Elimination Tag Team Match
Team TBD vs The Dirty Blondes w/Col. Robert Parker - 6.5/10
After TBD dominated the start of the match, Jimmy Yuta was rolled up and eliminated, leaving Cade vs both Blondes. In something I can't remember seeing, Yuta instead of walking to the back, he kinda just became Cade's second outside the ring, cheering for him.

Blondes pretty much worked over Cade for a while, with some hope spots from the babyface. Eventually, Cade managed to split the Blondes and hit the Black Magic on Michael Patrick to eliminate him. Leo vs Cade for the last fall. Finish saw Col. Parker trip Cade, so him and Yuta got into some words, distracting the ref from the ring, where the Blondes hit a double team for the win. TBD really need to get their shit together, this is the second time they lose because Parker trips one of them. Good match.

Post-match - Cade and Yuta seemed to have some differences.

Team TBD Interview - They promise to be back in Sync for the up coming tag team tournament.

Shane Strickland Interviewed - He said that he is having trouble with depth perception because of the attack, but he said that he has no problem defending the title. He talked shit to Pentagon.

Pentagon's MLW World Title Shot on the line
Pentagon Jr w/Salina de la Renta vs Rey Fenix - 8/10
This was the usual great clash between these two, but Pentagon was given a lot more momentum here since he's going for the championship next week. Fenix did have a part of the match he made a comeback to equal out the field, to add some drama to the match. Match ended with Pentagon hitting the armbreaker and Penta Driver for a huge two near fall. Pentagon then hit the Fear Factor for the win.

Only thing that I just don't know if I got wrong or they taped out of order, but commentary never mentioned that above mentioned de la Renta interview about singing Fenix, so all the match, we had to pretend it mattered to Salina de la Renta whether Pentagon retained or not.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Good show, Stickland vs Pentagon was well built tonight.
