not sure, but WrestleCon is high spots if i'm not mistaken, and I think high spots has always been cool with everyone, so maybe they were able to get permission. Do consider that at least Best Friends are 100% independent, they started in PWG and while they're now doing ROH dates, neither are signed in the US to anyone. Same with Golden Lovers to an extent since they were GL outside of NJPW, but i do see them getting the ok from Japan just in case

I was under the impression that Best Friends (or at least Trent) were ROH/NJPW exclusive (with the PWG exception) since autumn. Highspots has always been cool with everyone, but that has alway been because they haven't been running their own shows. I was also under the impression that top NJPW guys were pretty exclusive to ROH in the areas where ROH-exclusive contracts apply (the US and Ontario), and that would include Omega (for example, I don't think NJPW has worked with D'Amore for a few years, and ROH even ran with NJPW guys in D'Amore's "territory").

no on that second part. Ospreay is doing EVOLVE during WM weekend. I think ROH needs to also secure their US contracts. Not a top talent, but Sabre too.

Sabre was already with EVOLVE before he started NJPW, though, and I thought Ospreay wasn't signed to anyone right now.

from what i understand, he had signed with ROH a one-year contract (along with Scurll) which recently expired. I could be wrong,

Yes. Meaning he isn't signed to anyone, and thus not beholden to any politics. He has even said that he's open to working the occasional ROH show as his schedule allows, and that working for WWN over Mania weekend was simply a money thing because WWN is the group that has the greatest number of shows.

Really? I thought he was working with them through ROH rather than it being a separate thing, and now he's just working with them on a more freelance basis like Zack does.

now you're making me doubt. Ospreay joined CHAOS in like march 2016, but he didn't sign with ROH until november, cuz i remember Ospreay vs KUSHIDA was for invasion attack and I think he signed immediately after with NJPW

From the latest Observer.

The biggest news is Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi vs. Chucky T & Baretta will be on the WrestleCon Super Show, as will Will Ospreay. The original idea was Omega & Ibushi vs. Penta 0M & Rey Fenix, but New Japan nixed it as they didn’t want their guys wrestling against Mexicans who weren’t CMLL guys. Granted, that makes Jushin Liger vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. on their own show hard to explain, but there are always double standards in wrestling. And Omega & Young Bucks wrestled against Penta 0M & Fenix & Penta in PWG in September and they aren’t CMLL Mexican guys.

At this point I'm fully convinced that Joey Janela just randomly picks names out of a hat.

That Joey Janela is a miracle worker. He's made me want to see a Nick Gage match.
